I love the whole Cthulhu mythos with all its unspeakable names and unpronounceable horrors. The writing style and photos capture the atmosphere of the original stories really well. I read the first book last night and it didn’t end well. I fear that, beneath the surface, there may be unknowable numbers causing chaos to the outcome of events. I’ll try again later with a different character. tshark_ma likes this. tshark_ma Member Aug 17, 2017 14 1 3 #4 tshark_ma, Jul 11, 2018 There is indeed quite a lot to fear beneath the surface.... solarnya Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2015 897 282 63 Male Close to Tokyo, Japan #5 solarnya, Jul 12, 2018 I'm thinking of purchase all the books. once I purchase, I can play this forever? Stranded87 Well-Known Member Sep 18, 2009 132 14 18 #6 Stranded87, Jul 12, 2018 Oh this looks interesting. Will give it a try in the next few days. Can anyone say if it's less random and unforgiving than Tunnels and Trolls though? I think that was an issue with the original books rather than the port (which was otherwise good), but I have no interest in dying at almost random all the time. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #7 Asp, Jul 12, 2018 Internet is needed so I guess books can be played as long as the MetaArcade servers are active. This part works just like it does in Tunnels & Trolls. tshark_ma Member Aug 17, 2017 14 1 3 #11 tshark_ma, Jul 12, 2018 Hard for me to really say, since the nature of Cthulhu has you going insane. However, we were careful not to put as many "one shot skills" in these stories. So if you do die, it's because of you. Any feedback is appreciated, you can reach us at [email protected]. tshark_ma Member Aug 17, 2017 14 1 3 #12 tshark_ma, Jul 12, 2018 Ugh that stinks! We've been seeing some issues here. Most users can get this fixed by completely deleting and reinstalling the app. If you still have issues let us know at [email protected]. tshark_ma Member Aug 17, 2017 14 1 3 #13 tshark_ma, Jul 12, 2018 Yes, kinda. If you have purchased the stories, and have it downloaded (this means going in and playing the adventure), then this means that you will also be able to play this adventure offline. Keep in mind that it's a combination of purchasing the story AND downloading/playing it that let's you do this. If you are just using free plays, you will not be able to play offline. On our side, if you make a MetaArcade account, we keep track of what you buy and if you log in (if you happen to delete the game and reinstall after purchasing) then your ticket count and what you have purchased will be restored. We can also restore you if you do not have a MetaArcade account, but it's just easier if you have an account. sobriquet Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2015 1,216 1 38 #16 sobriquet, Jul 13, 2018 Last edited: Jul 15, 2018 Very nice. That works for me. I used to play the Chaosium RPG many years ago and loved/hated it so much. Sanity rolls were the worst, lol. I’ll download and check it out. Thanks for responding. PS, are any of the current or future stories based on the Delta Green source books? The combination of Cthulhu mythos and government conspiracy was even more intense to me. Stranded87 Well-Known Member Sep 18, 2009 132 14 18 #17 Stranded87, Aug 26, 2018 Took me rather longer to try this than planned, but... it’s really good! Far less frustrating than I found T&T and I can’t wait to get stuck into the rest. Stranded87 Well-Known Member Sep 18, 2009 132 14 18 #18 Stranded87, Aug 27, 2018 I hope you're making money on this. I feel like the free content is overly generous to the point where most people probably won't pay. But on the flipside the price for each story is maybe a bit high given how short they are, so I feel like the system could maybe use some tweaking. Then again, I know nothing about people's app spending habits other than my own and I just bought 50 tickets to support you as much as anything. Haven't actually used any of them yet. Asp likes this. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #19 Asp, Aug 27, 2018 You are right @Stranded87. I also thought the free/payment ratio seemed unbalanced. They have been adding more books though, so I guess it’s working out. I got 110 tickets at the start so they should be well in profit! ramzarules Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2014 2,112 128 63 Greece #20 ramzarules, Aug 27, 2018 OK, the first story of this app was my first official foray into the Kthulu mythos. And i have to say, personally i was severely disappointed. From what i have heard, being a massive fan of Bloodborne, which they say relates very closely to Kthulu, it's supposed to be creepy, scary, reality-questioning stuff with story twists that leave you reeling. This first story i feel was none of these things, and so predictable it couldn't be any more so. I completed it with a nice ending (my life) in 15-20 minutes. In contrast, the character biographies are very well written. My question is, do the stories in this app get better the further you go? Was this just a short mild intro?
