This is the major update with the full touch controls.
I'm interested to try it out. Maybe I'll become a Crystal Defenders believer now that the controls are better, but I doubt it.
Still $8 so I'm still not fully convinced.
The screen shots do look much better. I will consider it now.
Now there's a discretionary shopper
Btw, still not out in the U.S. but probably will be in the next few hours.
that's strange, I'm in the US and was able to download and update.
Maybe it's a timezone thing because it's still not showing up.
Lol, well with $8 I can buy Geodefense, Elemental Monsters TD, sentinal, garden defense, and the creeps. Or mix and match with other TDs.
It's all good Big Albie... I forgive you.
You know I meant that as a compliment
Well, it's about time! Purchased!
Sheesh, calm down.
Back on topic. How does the new gameplay feel for those who've tried it. If it works, then at least I can put it in my backlog of games. Before, it was just crappy cause of the controls.
The lite version got the update too.
Once the iTunes store is back up, maybe I can get this
For some reason I can't download it or even log in.
If you read the other thread about the game which had the update and opinions well before this thread, you'd know.
There's a lite version out there too by the way for any who are on the fence about the price (as I am). Downloading it now.
Just finished the lite and um, why is this game getting attention? There's no pinch zoom, unit and monster animations are way too frenetic (what is that 2 frames being cycled as fast possible?) and the freakin' archer looks like she's lobbing arrows from her belly button. Oh and the sfx are irritating. On the plus side, the gfx are well-drawn (though way too cute for my taste) but man, so glad there was a lite version, this game is so not worth 8 bones.
I was hyped, only to play the Lite version and realise that after months, Square only did the most basic functional update they could. Come on if bedroom devs behind Fieldrunners, 7 Cities and even Besiegement can do pinch zoom why can freaking Square-Enix?
The graphics aren't pixellated but obvious weren't redrawn, making everything have a slightly washed out look. Animatons are the same. Compare horizontal mode with vertical:
Functional update and nothing more, just takes them from negative back to zero. It's still a second tier tower defense app.
Some people might argue that pinch and zoom doesn't always add to a game. In my experience it has just gotten in the way for TD games. What's going on? I don't know let me zoom out so I can see. Uh oh I have to place a tower but I can't be accurate until I zoom in again. Zoom in zoom out zoom in zoom out. All I'm saying is that just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. And I don't think adding that to Crystal Defenders would make it a better game.
It's suprising how good it is with the horizontal style. Graphics, everything! They just made my favorite game even better. The new map selection is just begging for more maps though. Looks great, still a bit high prices for a TD game, but I have been playing since it came out a few months back and it's by far the most strategic TD I've played.
