I just played a few minutes of the campagin of Crysis 2 on PC and I'd like to say I have never seen anything better on the PC from this. It's just stunning. Almost better than real life haha. The beginning of the campaign is also good, better that most. The detail in this game is shocking. EDIT: Okay damn, this game can be tough even on the 2nd (out of 4) difficulty option. Going rambo on everyone isn't the best option but the game is so open that there are so many ways to tackle the fight. Before every 'big' fight it's usually recommend to take out your visor and tag enemies.
Crysis is dull, amirite hodapp? And yes. I'm really looking forward to this game and hoping that the hype is justified.
Apparently it sticks to Crytek tradition of switching the entire game around halfway through, and as usual it's not as fun as fighting human enemies. The missions themselves are supposed to be great though, even if the enemies aren't. Looking forward to it.
I wish they'd kept the old tropical island environment, or at least some other natural environment. New York isn't anywhere near as appealing to me. Not only has it been done so many times before in video games, but I generally find cities to be boring and/or depressing places.
I'm glad they've switched to a city. The island was a nice change, but they've done it now. I'm curious to see how this "urban jungle" works out because it's supposed to offer a surprising amount of freedom for a city-based FPS... which makes me think it'll feature a lot of variety. Jungle scenery tends to look the same from most angles but architecture really gives you something to work with.
Judging from impressions, the game's gone from an open-ended style of jungle-warfare to a linear, urban-action type game. Most of the exploration is seemingly gone, replaced by a more scripted 'action movie' type of game. That's not to say it's a bad thing, seeing how Uncharted 1 and 2 are two of the best games i've ever played in my life.
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's more linear than a jungle, but compared to the likes of CoD and Killzone the environment is supposedly quite open. It's not exactly the one-way corridors we're used to. There are plenty of different ways and angles to approach a situation and for the first time in a Crytek game you can travel vertically.
Yep, most of the fight scenarios have plenty of ways to approach them. There are these Tactical Approach points where the game shows you ways to approach a situation. For example, the game shows you a route from the sewers for stealthy approach and then shows you whether to avoid going up this exit from the sewer or continue further along for a quieter exit. Really loving the tactics in this game, you have to take your time or risk being gunned down because the game can be harsh. Enemies take 10-15 bullets to kill and if you blow you cover there can be about 5-10 enemies shooting at you. You can customize your suit with the perks from multiplayer by collecting a substance from which certain alien enemies drop. The on the fly weapon customize is back and you can choose from Silencers to Sights which you have to find from enemy weapons before you unlock them. Haven't had a chance to try multiplayer because no one is on the servers now But from what I tried in the demo it should be good.
Lucky. I've still got to wait until Thursday/Friday. At least I can hype myself up with a bunch of reviews in the meantime
It's been taken down permanently by EA. There were severe connection issues and very few people were able to actually get into a game. I downloaded the demo when it was up and never managed to get into a game myself.
I'll be getting this this weekend or next. I can't wait though because I love crysis and 2 looks amazing!
How long s the campaign length? The multiplayer looks unbalanced, so that main draw for me is the campaign, and if that's under 8 hours then it's not really worth it
The Gamereactor Sweden reviewer said it took him 13 hours. GameTrailers video review is up: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-crysis-2/712014 Edit: ...and the GT reviewer just said it's 12 hours long.
I'm so excited for this game. My pre-order arrived today. Howver the PC version needs some fixing: Advanced graphics options...3 presets? wtf Crytek... And DirectX 10/11 effects. It looks phenomenal for a DX9 game but 80+% of PC Gamers are on DirectX 10 and above now and it makes sense to utilize it.
