Haven't had a huge amount time to play this weekend however, my initial impressions are that it's very good. It's scaled down well to a smaller screen with text and menus/inventories easy readable. The only slight criticism I have is that on a smaller screens, the viewpoint is fairly well zoomed out as it is on iPad, which leads to slightly smaller than preferred assets on screen. This is ok but would appreciate having the option to zoom in on the action and to make hitting the correct hex/direction arrow a bit easier - in fairness though, the input thing may just be due to my fat fingers! Pleased to say the dlc is also available in the beta build so will be there for the universal version on release. Only other slight criticism is no iCloud integration for carrying over from your iPad version. I have flagged this up with the Devs but have yet to receive a response - in fairness though, it is the weekend and even game devs have to be allowed out of their cages once in a while! Still, fingers crossed they have something in the pipeline or can shoehorn something in at the last minute - but no guarantees. Apart from that, all very smooth and great to play even on a smaller screen. I think you'll all be pleased when it hits the AppStore in January.
Cool, glad someone was listening! Yes, it is a very cool game - perhaps a little tricky for the first few games but once you get the mechanics nailed and understand the strengths/weaknesses of the various characters, it becomes much deeper and often very tricky. Great little strategy roguelike and well worth the price.
Last I heard it was due to release first week of January - assuming they're still on track then I'd say imminently.
Thanks for the update! Edit: I can confirm that already purchased DLC restores with no problem and iCloud saving is there too. Still no zoom function though - not a game breaker by any means but would have been a nice finishing touch. In fact, it ports over beautifully to the iPhone screen. Resolution looks even sharper and details pop. Beautiful. Good job Kalypso!
Not being rude but your comment made me chuckle - maybe it's my British humour but it just sounds a bit flaccid and lacks commitment - "strongly consider".... ....it's an unintentional parody of the typical Englishman who is so incencesd that he writes a 'very stern letter of disapproval'! Like I say, I'm not poking fun - it just made me smile. ##
This is probably my favorite iOS game. Definitely pick it up if you've been holding out for iPhone version.
Wow thats high praise there, I bought it last night for my 7 plus and will be checking it out sometime today.
