Exactly. If there's one rule ANY game designer knows, it's that "obnoxiously difficult to acquire new content" is ALWAYS better than "unlocked everything." When you get near the end, you may go into full 'passive' player mode where you just turn the game on every six hours, run into a truck and get your gift and +20, but at least you're still looking at the game in some capacity. Even if players are complaining about the slow rate of "drops," they'll keep playing if there's a goal. Whereas if it was always one gift = one new unlock, many players would already have everything, and would have stopped playing altogether by this point. Frustration > Boredom.
I dont mInd the repeats so much if they were actual duplicates. After all, when I put a quarter into a gum ball machine, chances are I will get one that I already have. There's forty plain red gum balls in there...but if I get two red gum balls, then I have two red gum balls. In this scenario I don't get anything extra. I have gotten probably 4 brown bunnies. Who knows? I didn't keep up. All it shows me is that I have the brown bunny. If there are going to be so many repeats then give us a little town or room we can display, and play with them. If I have four brown bunnies in my town then so be it. Also, I'd like the ability to sell them back or trade them. An option to trade animals with other players could be a huge social feature. I could send a Gamecenter or Facebook friend an offer - "I will give you a The dark lord, the vampire, and three brown bunnies for Lucky Cat and Floppy Fish!"
I think the game records how many of each you have. The devs said they still had to think what to do with them. I've unlocked 41 out of 50, and I've got many repeated already EDIT: 42, just got the superstar, killed her against a fuel truck and... BOOM! All full of bank notes! Lol!!!!
I have unlocked 32/50 - which means I should have a 36% chance of obtaining a new character (assuming all characters had the same chance of being drawn). I am getting new characters WAY LESS than 36% of the time. You should be getting new characters 16% it time. I'm assuming your new acquisition rate is much lower as well. This tells me that some animals are much more likel to be drawn than others. It would be nice to know which ones are rare, or super rare. On a side note I don think my GC is working. My high score is 186. Is that what you guys show?
The point is to go as far as possible beat higher score not just have every characters from what I can see.
The point is enjoy the game whichever way you find suitable. I'm seeking winning all the characters, as well as highest score. I also sometimes play the highest crazy score, which means advance at a steady pace, not slowing down by any means
They gave us 50 characters to collect. The only monetization of the game is characters. One of the main gameplay mechanics is collecting them.
I agree with everything you wrote in your last three posts. I keep envisioning an update bringing the mother load of new unlockable characters. The possibility to trade them would be fun. My current high score is 282, but GC still says 234. It's annoying, but hey it's Game Center so what can you do? I have 44 characters and am missing Cow/Lucky Cat/Unlucky Cat/Capybara/Floppy Fish and Marmalade Dog. I have seen 4 of those characters on other devices, like the iPad at work, but have yet to see Floppy Fish or Unlucky Cat unlocked.
I have the fish and the cat you mention unlocked by playing. I'm missing both sheep, the pig, the snail, the green frog, the robot, the kiwi and one of the dogs. I bought the ghost, but I also won it once by playing in-game.
It's funny how that random gumball machine works! I think I've gotten the kiwi 5/6 times and both sheep were unlocked within the first day of playing. I want lucky cat, bad. Today is the first day with only repeat characters...
I have floppy fish and it's a favorite of mine. I have gotten Capybara at least three times, it's meh. I have gotten the kiwi twice. It does nothing special but I like it. It would be interesting to start a wiki (or at least a thread here) of characters and the gameplay additions/changes they contain.
I think you should start that thread! I also think it would be cool if Klicktock added more secret characters and semi-secret quirky bits that you discover as you play. My daughter wants floppy fish really bad. She got lucky cat yesterday and squealed with joy.
There are secret characters? Idk anything about those. I have found a lot of secret stuff, but no characters. That's awesome your daughter loved the game. My 3 and 4 year old girls do too. I save every arm-pull animal acquisition for them. That's their favorite part. They like that more than actually playing. Can you tell me about lucky cat, in spoiler brackets maybe? I can tell you anything you want to know about floppy fish. In case anyone doesn't want to know: Spoiler its a visually awesome character, and self-explanatory. It lays on it's side and flops forward. It rotates 180 degrees every few flops. I will double-check, but I don't think there's any special additions to the background while using it.
Getting characters is totally random, my wife, daughter and I are all playing and between us we have every character now. I just got epoch today as my maybe 40th new charchter where as my daughter got it as her second one ever. My wife has yet to get a frog, I have three. I got the sheep early on, wife just got them today. I did not get ANY world changing ones until like my 32nd charchter where as my daughter go almost all of those right off. She kept showing me screenshots of the worlds and making fun of me as I wanted them badly! Good times lol. My wife and daughter neither one has got the flea yet, I have got it six times. Once got it three times in a row....
My twin girls and I have been having a blast challenging each other and collecting the characters. I love the Vampire, floppy fish, flea, dark lord and Specimen most of all so far. My only suggestion for the game would be to allow us to select which characters are put into rotation on the random mode. I love cycling randomly through the ones I've collected but don't really care to have the chicken or duck etc. in the rotation.
