Nobody played this one on an iphone 4? I will buy this game if somebody confirms the retina display support.
It's a port of a psp game so there's no retina support but from those that have played it on iphone4 and have posted it seems to scale well
Noticeable only if you're looking for them, and a small flaw in what is otherwise a beautiful and well animated game. As far as I'm concerned the dialogue thing is not a glitch -- the conversations flow naturally, which wouldn't be the case if they followed you advancing the pages manually. I say it's a design choice, one that doesn't bother me in the slightest. It does take some time to get used to the combination of touch and swipe controls, and there's no real explanation anywhere within the game. Three hours into it, the system now feels pretty natural, but it still could be improved.
Thanks for sharing your game impressions. My mouse was hovering over the buy button. Your reply helped me click it. Lol. 3 hours until download is complete... I probably should have waited until I got home.
Yeah I've been debating whether to get Chaos Rings or just wait (hopefully) for a sale or price reduction. This makes me reconsider. Which have you guys enjoyed more? I'm personally most interested in the story and the depth/challenge of the gameplay.
I'm loving both games, but if you're going to wait for a sale on either of these 2 games, my bet is on Atlus than Square Enix, although chances of both having a sale are slim to none. Only time Square Enix has had a sale if they're introducing a new game to the App store and even than, the sale is about $2 to $3 dollars or less. Can't go wrong with either of them, but I should give my PSP more love, as I'm using my Iphone as more of my RPG device, when my PSP has more JRPG goodness.
A few quick thoughts of my initial impressions. +Visuals are impressive. And this is considering it's not even optimized for retina display. Running this on my iPhone 4 and it's smooth as butter. +No lag or framerate issues that I've seen The first things that I noticed: -No multitasking support. Which kinda sucks, if I take a call without saving...I'm screwed. For long games like this, that's a big deal. -The Fixed d-pad is far too high and too the right. I like Zenonia 2's d-pad that let's the user scale and position it to their preference. -The Flexible control would be perfect except for the fact that it'll reposition the d-pad even as you slide your thumb. Normally, the user should press wherever they want their d-pad to be and slide around for movement from there, but should be unable to "move" the d-pad until they let go and re-tap. -The action button is rectangular. Why? I do not know. A human finger press is typically circular. Might not seem like much of an issue but when you have large man hands it can be. Oh well. All things considered, I'll get use to the flexible dpad and enjoy this game. Great buy for 10 bucks.
Haven't tried this yet so I'll just say about CR. Beautiful, well-designed, lots of game hours. But it gets a bit repetitive since the levels repeat themselves even when you change the characters. $12.99 is a bit too much, $9.99 would be more reasonable.
First impressions. Gameplay looks very good, first off. I think we all agree of that, and the smoothness. Multitasking isn't there, which is important to have. I would love the option to turn off the voice overs. I like to imagine my characters voice. Actually, any extra options would be nice. There's only an option to adjust the dpad. The dialog is refreshing, and is more attractive then the VoiceOver translations. Over all so for, it's a great game. Do not wait on this. I wouldn't wait for Chaos Rings to drop it's price, either. And from what I've read it takes a mere 5 hrs to complete CR. not worth 12.99, IMO, especially when CGS has over 30hrs. I'll post an update later on. This is on an iP4.
CR takes way more than 5 hours: that's not even one play-through with one set of the characters. That said, CGS is the more traditional of the two, with towns, dungeons, a wide variety of characters, and a more straightforward story. It also doesn't take itself as seriously. Anyone seriously interested in JRPGs, however, owes it to himself/herself to get both.
my first playthrough with Escher and Musiea took more than 5 hours already on a side note, i found their ending to be funny...
