I went to the left side and keep climbing up until this guy block my way... now I'm stuck that I cannot go back to the surface area and continue my quest... help!
Man just the screen shots on this game look awesome. I've been trying to force myself for months to beat the original Inotia since it was the first iPhone game I bought (It was the first RPG I had found when I got my phone) and it's so tough when i see there are actually real RPG's on this platform. This game and Chaos Rings are giving me hope that we might start to see in increase in some solid RPG's on this platform.
To that list I would add The War of Eustrath and Shining Force (both in the SRPG subgenre), as well as the forthcoming FF Tactics, The Secret of Mana, Aralon, and Rimelands. BTW, anyone who's having trouble completing the Ganensher Dungeon (like me) may find this useful.
I just wanted to add a couple things. 1. squarezero is now my most trusted source of opinions for idevice games. 2. crimson gem saga is the best RPG on iphone. period. i'm completely used to the controls now and this is just a high quality port through-and-through. no crash bugs either. Carry on.
@Squarezero : for the menus it is not a user problem at all , but a clunk in game code : 50% of the time menus works well (swiping gently, the list go up or down one by one, a bit delicate but okay ) , but , sometimes, when you are going back to the same menu (ie : you bought a sword but you forgot to buy the dagger there, okay you speak to the merchant again) , then.... it's IMPOSSIBLE to navigate, you can swipe the way you want (included 'techniques' from this forum) , it goes ether to first or last element of the item list. And this item list was working well on my last buy , this is fixed randomly by exiting and going back in the menu. I think there's a serious issue here, maybe based on user's device and gamecode. Some (most of ) people seems to have this issue , others not, but IMO , it's not users fault but a problem in the progamming code of the game. And trust me when i say that spending 5min or more trying to got an item in the (backpack, merchant etc) is very frustrating. As i'm on war of eustrah atm, i'll wait hoping this is fixed when i'll finish it , but as far as i saw , this game is very promising otherwise
1.) I agree, especially if you enjoy RPG's. 2.) Better than Chaos Rings? I had been planning to wait on this one, but I'm coming dangerously close to just getting this thing tonight.
Even wat all the flaws it has its still way better then Chaos Rings witch has barely got any story at all
I actually tried to enter that well since it seemed so suspicious, but couldn't find an entrance. Gotta go try again. Also just outside Habsburg there's a warp gate to Ziggurat where there's quite powerful monsters that give awesome XP. I managed to get to 6th floor and level from 21 to 34 there. Maybe I'll have a chance against those well monsters. Also like you might have noticed the ambush makes even the toughest of enemies go down in one round. One thing of note with this Liche merchant is that his prices are way over the top. Some of the items might be rare and expensive, but there's a general merchant in Habsburg who sells some of those same items for 7500 coins instead of 30000.
1.) +1 to that. Because of that guy, my iPhone is overloaded with games. But squarezeros opinions are always very good and his taste is like mine overall. 2.) I like CR a bit more, because of the epic combat scenes, the unusual setting and story and the excellent controls. It's also exclusive. But CGS is the best traditional JRPG port ever.
Yes, I'm enjoying this much more than Chaos Rings for a couple reasons: 1. hand-drawn 2D sprites and backgrounds 2. more of a traditional JRPG -- party system, epic storyline, deep skill tree, great localization. reminds me of the days when I used to care about Japanese import games, etc. back in 1999.
It's great to see games like this not only a good critical reception. What's really going to help is if it climbs the charts. It's only been out a few days, but currently is a little low for such a quality product. If games like this consistently did well you'd see a tonne of top notch RPGs on the App Store.
#7 paid RPG and it's on the New and noteworthy page (at least on the RPG page of the App Store). Not too shabby.
So, are they going to synchronize voice-over with subtitles in an update? It looks kind of annoying in that gameplay trailer.
Gameplay wise, this has a lot more depth and content in it than Chaos Rings. The story probably doesn't match up to CR though. I don't think you played through Chaos Rings. It is partly a user problem, depending on whether you know how to swipe or not, which admittedly isn't exactly evident when you first play it. Yeah, it is pretty annoying trying to read a line of text when the voice is saying something completely different. I sort of wait until the voiceover is finished, then start reading.
