Anyone know some good law firms/companies online that specialize in credit repair that isn't a scam?

I've heard some stories about firms taking on your case and not doing anything for 3-6 months, yet they keep charging you.

As a former credit counselor, I can tell you one thing: the only thing that will repair your credit is getting your debts paid off. You can do it in one of two ways, go through a debt reduction agency/attorney who will tell you not to pay bills for 3-6 months, and then they'll settle with creditors for 50% or so of the debt. This, however, remains on your credit report and may make getting credit in the future difficult.

Your second option is to consolidate your debts into one payment and have an agency make the payemnts for you. The agency I worked for is Money management Int'l/Consumer Credit Counseling service. They're a non profit agency who do the counseling over the phone. The initial counseling session takes about an hour and a half or so, depending on how many bills you have.
http://www.moneymanagement.org/ is their website. Even though I haven't worked for them in a year, I still recommend them to people.

If that's the case and you know what they are and how to contact them, you should be able to deal with them yourself.
