Really hooked on Creatures of the Deep. Tried a number of fishing games and this has a laid back, chill-out vibe. Puts me in the frame of mind of sitting in a small boat in the middle of a lake away from trouble and strife. Plus there are the stories from various characters to keep me looking in. The multiplayer aspect works well too. I get that there isn’t the same play value as most F2P’s, with continual rewards, coins, upgrades, defeat the evil guys. I’m pretty much done with all that anyway. Mostly doing idlers and this kind of zen stuff these days. It’s still pretty deep given time. Devs have a great sense of humour with some of the weird objects being fished out.
Well, I tried, I really tried. I spent the free 30 gems I had on buying 15 units of the monster bait, I tried to catch the shark (I even saw the shade of the shark going in the water, fwiw), but couldn’t even get it to hook to the rod (all are common fish). I bought the 500 coin rod prior to all of this… and it broke. Now I’m at the base with 700 gold coins, a new 500 coin rod, 1 gem and… 0 patience to continue playing. I wanted to like this one, I really wanted, but I can’t dedicate the patience nor the grinding to it that it seems to require. I’d rather ID had chosen to develop a premium experience like the old N-Gage Creatures of the Deep, from which I have very, very fond memories. As it is, I’m quitting, sorry please let us know here in the forums if you ever decide to go for a premium experience. I’ll be the first one to buy it.
Had to give this a shot. Seems to be one of those games people either love or hate. I’m somewhere in between. Not played long enough to get bored yet but definitely not the fastest game around. Adding two storage slots saved a few helicopter trips to unload. I just fished out an otter, which is terrible, and probably illegal. Sold for a decent price so all is well. Not caught the shark so far either, though I’ve seen its shadow passing below. I’m gonna need a bigger boat.
Has anyone caught Shredder the shark yet? I logged on last night. Played for an hour. Used 10 Monster baits, used up all my gems and never saw him. I did notice on one fish, some sort of reel-in prompt showed up on the bottom of the screen and then disappeared. Anyone know what is up with that? Do harder fish trigger a reel-in prompt? I do see where the IAP's come in now. I may need to use this monster bait to catch this shark. And since now I have no more crystals, I can buy them if I like. Seeing as it is not a guarantee catch though, not sure if it is worth the purchase.
Well I haven’t caught the shark, and was wondering whether to spend the time hunting. Rather thought it would be a lot of hassle, so thanks for your post. I’ll maybe return to it later. Have just unlocked Costa Rica which has new species earning more cash, though the helicopter fare is higher. You’re right about the reel-in meter which appears when catching rare, epic and monster fish. I’ve caught two rares and they took a while. Shredder will surely be even more challenging.
Do you think instead of waiting around to find Shredder and grinding fish, I should pay the 2,000 and move to a new location?
I've hit the paywall, and it's a pretty concrete one. And buggy as well.. After a few days of collecting the sparse wood, i built the Dockyard in order to upgrade the available cargo hold space. The prices are pretty steep: 5 -> 6 spaces = 15 gems 6 -> 7 spaces = 30 gems 7 -> 8 spaces = 100 GEMS I didn't want to spend more gems to upgrade it further, but that curve didn't look promising. The thing I am pissed about is that it didn't stick. I spent 145 gems, went out to the island, and the upgrades where gone! See the attached screenshot. When I went back to the Dockyard, I could only see the option to purchase it, which i did 5 minutes prior. :-( I can also confirm what some people posted above: Spent about 20 monster bait trying to catch the shark in the Northern Waters at night, but didn't catch anything other than regular fish. I'm pretty much done with this game until they fix both the bugs, as well as the ridiculous pricing curve.
Sure, sounds like a plan. Shredder can wait. Unlock Great Lakes for 2,000, then Costa Rica for 5,000. Each area is restocked daily with free floating wood and coins, so just sailing around these locations is a good way to collect resources. I’ll do this for while till I have more bait and a stronger line for shark hunting. The fishing is good too with different species, more trash to clean up and some interesting quests. @bopp, losing the cargo space you bought would be really annoying. Fortunately I’ve not had that issue. If @TomID is still here maybe he can help fix.
I keep getting -what I’m assuming- are large fish or rare fish. It tells me to watch the tension on my line or something along those lines. However, it offers no instructions on how this is accomplished and I just mindless tap and swipe my iPad, hoping to do whatever it is I’m supposed to be doing. Anybody else? This has happened twice now and I can’t help but think I’m missing out on something…
Hold finger on screen so the line tension bar moves to the right, then keep it in yellow box to reel in fish. Let go of screen if bar goes too far right.
Welcome to the forum. For future reference we are only allowed to post in English. Helps to avoid any misunderstandings. Congrats on catching a shark. I’ve yet to buy the 1000 rod. I have not seen any “karma” in the game yet, so I’m not sure what you are referring to, but that may be a Google mistranslation. Please clarify if possible.
Thanks for screenshot. In my game the Karma increases after returning to base and selling fish. So your -19 Karma makes no sense. Unfortunately I think it must be a bug at your server. Here are my stats and Karma.
Does Karma maybe decrease if you throw trash back into the water? That would be a good reason for it to happen. Have you been throwing garbage into the water, @NinaPl?
Awww man! That so made my day, I still have tears in my eyes for lmao! Thank you! (still giggling lol) Oh, and did you throw garbage into the water @NinaPl?
I waited years for this and finally was excited to see it on Play Store. I'm somewhat disappointed. The original version on N-gage is still masterpiece and the best fishing game I've ever played. This one has gorgeous graphics, decent gameplay and massive potential but it is being compromised with its freemium model. The whole pay to progress thing is detrimental to the success and experience of the game. This will not go down well. They should work on improving the gameplay experience. They should add more rods, lines, lures, gadget etc to expand the game. The in-app purchases should be complimentary to the experience, not essential. I've hit the paywall at level 6 and I don't mind paying, I mind continue paying. This is quite disappointed. Hell I'd pay a decent amount of money for the original remaster. It was a masterpiece!
