and bdw I DREW the pirate using the touchpad on my laptop (which takes pretty alot of time lol), model is in one of the gameplay screenshot lol. (yesterday one guy said some nonsense stuff.)

As for your own submission, I like the doubloon itself, but personally I digged your black background a teensie bit better than the purple/lila one.

And Mathieu, that skeleton is really well drawn, definitely worth digitalizing.

What are your softwares that you used to make icons?

I have Photoshop and Illustrator and I don't use them often but I supposed they're not too hard to handle if its just for color.

 

Haha I use illustartor and photoshop too but I dont know how to do anything in photoshop so its primarily illustrator with photoshop for cropping.
But yeah I am hoping to make another one before the contest is over to try and have a chnce at this thing cuz my other one was just average. What did u guys think about it?

 

I used inkscape 'cause it's illustrator for free and i'll later export it to a psd for photoshop

 

LOL i use both too but i dont really know how to use illustrator so i mostly use photoshop....

fireworks IMO is photillustrator (mix) cause it uses bitmaps and vectors

 

Correct There's also a teensie bit of InDesign in there, since it also allows quick prototyping of multiple pages/views with masters. Nowadays I hardly touch Photoshop or Illustrator, and basically do all of my work in Fireworks. Personal preference.

 

what do you think of the royal red version? Is the color fine?

 

I like the red a lot better man, tons better IMO. Makes it look really great. You've got a nice icon put together.
Ill be posting another soon, went for a more cartoonish feel.

 

and how did u get that skull nd crossbones imkage?

 

I made it from looking at a pirate flag do you want it? ill make a png for you real high res

anyways you can see the imperfections in the eyes/head also its way more rounded off

I made you a PNG and added a wear and tear filter (I think it looks cooler that way) also I redid the teeth

I really like it but I'm not a big fan of the brush used for the hat also the background pattern looks too compressed. ease up the spacing between the skulls. I really LOVE the brown background!
