Happy New Year TA's and Devs !

Made it to world two and it amazes me more and more.
So much content this game has to offer !

My personal wish is 'only' to have the flip-screen (earphones)
and be able to change the sides of the jump/combat controls.

    Cheers all !

After all the reviews from people who don't usually care for tilt but love this game, I thought I would try it..

It is still a ball rolling game, and to tilt around an iPad to play this is not fun. It may be better on an iPhone, but i can't see why people would enjoy wielding your iPad in the air. It is just not a fun game mechanic for me. I'm not saying that virtual controls would fix this, but this is probably a game better played on an iPhone

You may be right that it's more fun on the smaller device (Gabrien made the same point earlier), but this is definitely not a ball rolling game -- it's a tilt-controlled platformer. I really don't understand why this concept is so hard to understand. Ball rollers are designed to make it difficult to balance on a platform. They are also timed, so that you have to navigate difficult paths as fast as possible. Crazy Hedgy sticks you in place, so that it's difficult to roll off a platform (the exact opposite of a ball roller) and the levels are not timed, so you can explore and take as long as you want to finish a level (again, the exact opposite of a ball roller). The game also has a jumping move and a combat mechanic that simply does not exist on any ball roller.

The game shares a control scheme with ball rollers like Super Monkey Ball. But that's pretty much it.

Guys please don't get into a silly debate over what kind of game this is. It's completely pointless.

If you like the controls play this awesome game, if not then don't. But who cares what kind of game it is?

Even though "3rd Person Platformer" is oddly used in this thread title the developer calls it a "roll-n-jump" and that seems accurate to me. It's certainly not a platformer and not like a typical ball roller.

Hey -- some of us care about terminology. Call me silly. And yes, this is very much a platformer.

Where do you see that? I am playing Crazy Hedgy on iPad 2 and it's perfect.

It's a hedgeballformer. But since English is not my native language I hope this word doesn't mean something undecent.

You must have missed my thoughts above. I don't really care for it on an iPad2. I want to get into it, but just not my thing. Each their own!

Frankly I think the developer has quite successfully created a new genre, as they have said a "Roll'n'Jump" adventure game. I think it does a disservice to this game to call it either a platformer or ball roller. It's clearly a clever and well done hybrid of this genre's.

Fair enough. But it's still a platformer :D.

    LOL.

In a more serious note I'd like to see:

Tilt Sensitivity setting. The tilt is incredibly precise, but I'd like the ability to adjust it even more sensitive (so I don't have to tilt my device as much).

Visible (adjustable transparency) of what side is jump and punch. I'm always hitting the wrong side. I'd like a label or button, and make it switchable so I can change screen sides?

Otherwise this game is pretty good. Good design and high production values. If I can tweak my user interface I could really get into Crazy Hedgy.

    Hopefully these ideas seem reasonable?

lol yeah...agreed! It's a jump'n'run platformer. It just happens to be in third person. Monkey Ball is a platformer that has acquired the sub-genre/nickname ball roller. Platformer has subcategories just like RPG has subcategories.

As far as the iPad thing, I totally agree. I've played racing games on the iPad and didn't really enjoy the experience. iPad is better for strategy and puzzle games IMO.

I'm hoping for more power ups that change how Hedgy looks, like the helmet.

Thank you, we already know the article. Great! :)

We are wondering about our trophy TA GOTW, it isn't posted anywhere on TA. Does anybody know if TA publish the GOTW on their Homepage?

    is this game any good?

was wondering if it uses tilting, or if there is an option to turn tilt off.
btw TA doesn't notify of GOTW, you just have to see for yourself

Have you not read any of this thread ;)

The game is very very good, i'm not normally a fan of tilt games at all but this game is the exception. Great graphics and gameplay, a lot of very good levels, total bargain. Honestly i much prefer on screen buttons but this type of game has to be tilt, its really very good

GoW is basically a member-driven award and not officially sanctioned by TA. It still reflects the views of the TA community and you should be proud of it, but I wouldn't expect an official label on the site.
