Worth it? A lot of talk on the controls. I love platformers, but dont care for tilt controls. It seems that users see this as the only fitting control type (like Rolando). I play on an ipad2, and tilting this thing is just not for me, as I feel like you are somewhat distorting the picture and not able to really focus on anything but the character. Kinda bummed as it looks great.
Meh. High production values yes, but I hate tilt controls. I don't see any reason not to include alternate control schemes. Although these are some of the best tilt controls I've ever played with, they're still tilt controls which in of themselves are NOT unique nor in my opinion add anything to what could be a great platformer. Please reconsider your stance on control options. You'll only wind up with more and well deserved fans! #
The dev have alread stated they're not making different controls schemes because the tilt controls are the only control scheme that fits the game.
For what it's worth, that just sold me the game. I like a developer with a strong vision and the guts to stick to it.
i nearly didn't buy this for 2 reasons. 1. file size 2.tilt controls and i have to say, im pleasantly surprised. because the tilt control was mandatory, i was forced to play it in that way, which actually made me discover the wonderful feeling of a tilt based 3d platformer, yes it was slightly a learning curve at first, but as soon as you learn it becomes second nature, and its made the game that much more fun and unique, if it would have had a joystick, i would have used the joystick from the beginning and not even tried the tilt, but because i had to use tilt, its really made me enjoy a whole new experience im unfamiliar with. thank you devs for forcing me to try! its like..something your acquire a taste for over time..at first you may hate olives as a kid, but as you grow up you start absolutely adoring olives and craving olives, I've now acquired a taste for tilt, and i hope now tilt based platformers become available on the appstore in the future. i will probably buy every game this dev releases, im very pleasantly surprised with the game, especially how it was a secret gem, no advertising just OOM this great app becoes available and it doesn't even need advertising because it'll sell on its own, the screen shots are great my only slight grudge is the map screen, which i saw how the devs said there updating it, so thats great! and the file size..but i doubt much can be done about that.. i deleted lots of stuff so i could download crazy hedgy..then an update come out like a day later, and i cant update it due to no room.. so if i delete crazy hedgy and reinstall it, will my progress still be there or will i start again/? i guess i could start again if i had to..im not that far into the game yet anyway. something i ended up being the most impressed with turned out to be the thing i thought was the negative point about this game, the tilt controls. there the most precise tilt contols I've ever felt, tilt has a bad reputation because some games don't tweak the tilt controls enough and it sucks and makes the game unplayable, but its not the case with crazy hedgy..its actually probably even easier to navigate then a dpad. very vry impressed, the devs have obviousy spent alot of time making this into perfection.
I'm not. Looks like a really nice game so far with more attention to detail than we're used to around these parts. No issue with the controls on the smaller device but I would not want to play this on the iPad. Feels like terrific value so far for $2.
Finished the game and loved almost every minute of it. Definitely one of my favorite games ever, IOS and otherwise. Had no issues with the tilt controls on iPhone, you can tell that the game is designed around them. On iPad they are less than great, but sometimes I did play a few levels on the iPad anyway (the cloud syncing is great!) and it worked well enough. Can't wait for more levels (though really, the game feels very complete as is) and whatever else the dev will come out with.
Surprised to hear file size is an issue. Download is only 127mb. The game is fab! I am progressing - up to 18 coins now on World 1. And...how many levels are there on World 1? I thought I had done them all (10?) and didn't have enough coins to progress due to the 25 badge on the World 2 marker. Then there were more (?) World 1 levels and now I'm up to 18 coins. I also bought a few upgrades.
Is 1.99 the sale price? Or should I wait for a further drop? With all of the December purchases already done, i'm having a hard time deciding on this one... :/
It's a sale price, 66% off I believe and so far these devs have been true to their word so don't expect a price drop. It will probably be one of the best $2 you spend anyway
Thank you very much for your feedback, good to hear! If you have iCloud activated, your game data is saved in the iCloud! Deleting and reinstalling the game will load your score from iCloud! Best Regards Raffael
Quick question for the devs: Can you confirm whether or not iOS 4.2.1 is supported in the 1.2 update? Just making sure so I don't buy it and have it not work (4th gen on 4.2.1). Also is the intro sale going to continue slightly after the 1.2 update? If not, and 4.2.1 is supported in the 1.2 update, I'll buy it now, but I figured I'd better make sure. Game looks amazing (like one of the best on iOS). Thanks!
Yes, I know. Hence my request for them to reconsider. I'm glad you guys like the game but I fail to see why so many here get upset when anyone asks if other things can be added to a game. If the tilt controls stayed in place as they are now, and they added touch controls for other players, what harm is done? None. I applaud developers with a strong vision yes, but failing to listen to consumers is a sure path to failure. I don't see where the dev has to compromise anything because a few players would like touch controls. If I were to develop a game I'd make it as accessible as possible to largest paying base. Locking a game into one mode, as well executed as it may be, would seem unwise and serve to only alienate people whom otherwise might buy my product. I've yet to play a game that makes me a tilt control convert. Crazy Hedgy, as good as it is, is no different. Frankly if the game "has to be tilt controlled" then calling this a platformer is frankly misleading, its a ball-roller (and if you like that genre, Crazy Hedgy should be at the top of your list). I just don't agree that tilt controls are the end-all be all of experiencing this or any game. If the dev does that's fine, I'll move on to other games and they get to keep my money. Enjoy the game, I'll move on to something I can enjoy...
The game is a platformer. Just because you control it (in part) using tilt doesn't make it just a "ball roller." And of course the idea that a control method is not integral part of game design is clearly wrong. The developers here made a very deliberate choice and designed the game around it. It's too bad that you are not willing to put the effort to learn how to control the game as is (I could say the same thing about Monster Hunter on the PSP). Those of us who have would rather have the dev team focus on additional content and further polishing the game, rather than accommodating folks who can't expand their gaming horizons .
I appreciate your response, I think. Guys, please understand, I don't hate this game. In fact I see the incredible job they did on it and frankly I'm not going to be drawn into a debate on what genre this game falls into, mostly because its irrelevant. The hint that I need to somehow expand my horizons is kinda silly really, I gave and will continue to give this game a chance. Worst case scenario I'm out half of what I spend on lunch today. Its not the end of the world. Sorry I'm not one of the cool kids that just gushes over tilt controls...
