3/5 Ouch. Have they been playing the same game as I?

Back to the main subject, perhaps reviewers initially experience an averse reaction to the game's by-the-books aesthetics. I must say, even though they are carefully polished and professional-looking, they do look a bit like a third-rate PSX mascot game from the 90's. The apples, crates and orange-tinted protagonist recall heavily the Crash Badicoot series, and the green grass and blue-sky look of the first world couldn't be more predictable. It unfortunately detracts from its strong points and partially negates its novelty.

Just making sure you're defending the game on all fronts.

I already had my say here. And I am not defending Crazy Hedgy, but what a game like that means for the platform -- something I used to think you cared about.

It's 3/4 -- their scale doesn't go to 5. And tired aesthetics haven't stopped anyone for, pardon my French, creaming over SML 3D.

Is the "3" an average reader score and not based on the review?

    This sums it up:

As far as I know Hodapp and I never dated, so, no, we're not breaking up ;).

I'm generally unimpressed with SML3D's generic look, but they can get away with it because of the franchise's long, proven history and popularity by maintaining this specific style. Gamers, the vast legions of Nintendo enthusiasts, are thoroughly enthralled with the "brand name". The Mario franchise is Nintendo's biggest lifeblood. They understandably don't want to mess with a winning formula.

Crazy Hedgy, as a brand new title fresh from the cradle needs to prove itself convincingly. Re-heated, generic in-game aesthetics doesn't help them in the slightest.

What you call reheated I call pleasantly familiar. The game brings enough new things in the gameplay department (unlike the latest SML) that, IMO, a more traditional look doesn't hurt it in the slightest.

More to the point (about scores): no reviewer has mentioned anything about a "reheated look" as a problem or "con" with the game. So that's kind of a non-issue.

Not even worth mentioning—a waste of time… And their rating is even worse than tA's. Hard to believe: Crazy Hedgy has the best and most simple and intuitive controls and the Slide To Pay editor DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THEM!

That's pure nonsense. It works pretty well as described in the game and I played it for hours. "Left half of the screen is for punching and the right one is for jumping. One tap for one punch, hold for autofire." It can't be more easy, can it?

I never had problems with that. Not for a single second. The controls are perfect.

There's no need to adjust the gyroscope's sensitivity. It's not an overloaded Logitech mouse cockpit but a simple iPhone.

A difficult task for professional iOS game reviewers: They should learn and train how to hold an iPhone or iPad in their spastic hands. It's really not so hard. I am accomplishing this since more than three years now. Additionally: The CH's auto calibration works fine before each level so you can even choose how to hold it in a comfortable position. Once more: Can't be better and easier.

Call it a really great and very very difficult puzzle… Even the four years old daughter of a friend found out soon that it's necessary to find the three lucky coins in each level. The kid had no problems with the controls as well but admittedly she needed some attempts (two or three) to get used to the "pick up something, go and throw it in a direction" gestures.

My rating of the Fail To Play review: 2/4.

If there is something like a responsibility of editor's words… With such reviews I don't see a future for quality iOS games. At least they don't support it at all. Bummer. Better let your cat review a game—it knows better how to handle a touchscreen than some human and it has a sense for quality.

All I need to know is which presidential candidate is running on a platform of 5/5 for Crazy Hedgy. They have my vote.

Sorry but I'm not a single issue voter. They would have to give 5/5 both to Crazy Hedgy and Shadowgun ;).

Sorry. No vote for me. :)

I NEVER would like to be president of USA—read my lips: Not for ANY money in the world. And I never would like to be president or prime minister of my home country, not even CEO of Apple or of the company where I work (4,000 employees). Those are crap jobs for pavonine monkeys and morons (with RARE exceptions).

But vote and rate 5/5 or 9.6/10 or 9,597/10,000.01 for Crazy Hedgy as often as you want. You cant fail with that. It's not all sunshine and roses here in Austria but I would support quality games by all means if I would be slightly interested in iOS gaming. I couldn't express it better than tA user Gabrien…

…and tA moderator squarezero earlier (on the tA review)…

…or tA regular Big Albie (best review of the game until now):

Edit: BTW still waiting for Crazy Hodapp's review… Maybe after the next major update of the app, promised for early 2012?!

question... the Christmas Sale mentioned in the Description is the reason why this is at 1.99?

Or was this any lower at some point and I never noticed?
