I came back to playing Crazy Hedgy today, and I'm realizing that I really want to switch attack to the right side. Something feels unnatural about it. Maybe it's that I've been playing a ton of games the past week to clear up my backlog, and most of them have the attack/action button on the right side. Also, I'm right handed and in MY mind, I want to attack with my right hand and jump with my left. I also decided to buy the grab upgrade and the slide mechanic doesn't work well with my left thumb. Everything else is awesome, like I said earlier!

If this has already been addressed then sorry, but I haven't really been on this thread in a while.

**Just looked and TimEggers said the same thing (kinda), so I'm not alone.

I just wanted to say it's pretty amazing that this opulent game doesn't drain battery too much (like other apps do).

It's really sad that it was too late to nominate Crazy Hedgy for the Game Of The Year Contest 2011. Where can I nominate it for GOTY 2012?

Agreed that a "switch sides" control option to make jumping be on the left side would be nice.

I just got 100 coins. Never, ever expected that when I was going for the first 25. It was a lot of fun to go back to replay earlier levels, and I really loved finding some of the coins. I even got 3 coins on the first candy world level, the one I initially skipped because I found it too hard.

Yeah, judging by the review it sounded pretty good (even though I haven't played it yet, waiting for the 1.2 update) but honestly....that review sure didn
t sound like 4 stars, it sounded like at least 4 and a half. There were no big "didn't like" or anything besides a couple minor nitpicks. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see anything in there that should drop it a star....

I've spent the last 5 minutes trying to complain about this in the comment section on my iPod. Typing it over on my laptop right now....

This is a 5 Star game all the way. TA just likes games with big fat square pixels. This game has a lot of colors and smooth edges, so... :D

I know right! It's like it's Old Farts galore here. What's up with the over-abundance of pixelated-retro games that get all the love?

    CH is def a 5/5.

Oh and pls dont hate me ;)

You guys know that you can rate the game yourselves by viewing the app info stuff on the first page of the thread right?

Frankly, I never get too upset about star or number ratings -- it's a very coarse system, and personal preferences are going to have a very large influence on the outcome. The fact that a fancy but repetitive game like Jetpack Joyride got 5 stars and, say, The Bard's Tale got 4 kind of takes away much of the system's value in my view. The review itself is far more important.

I think folks concern is that a 4 star rating takes the game out of contention for the official best-of-the-month selections. Also, there seems to be a contradiction between the review itself and the rating. But as I said above, an opinion is a tough thing to quantify.

We really can't win. People incessantly complained that they didn't want to actually read a review, they want scores. Now that we score games, they're all wrong. I think it helps if you don't look at scores as a metric to validate your own opinion about a game, and instead look at reviews as what they are: A single person's opinion, which may very well differ from yours.

edit: Not "you" specifically, the royal you.

But oftentimes people generally don't have much time to go through long and detailed reviews. Also if a favourable review was shown in the description of a game I'm thinking of buying then that would make me more likely to buy the game as well.

I think where your confusion comes in is that the purpose of a review, from where we're sitting, isn't to drive sales of anything.

I think the problem is that the score doesn't reflect the review. The review has a few nit-picks, but you said it pretty much ticked all the boxes. And then gave it a 4/5, which implied there was something you really didn't like about it, but didn't give a reason. A few nit-picks aren't enough to drop a whole star, especially when one of your biggest issues was it "doesn't show the importance of the coins early on" or something like that. And that's based on your review alone. Based on that review, it should be a 4.5/5 I think....
On a separate note, can't wait to finally get this game. Hopefully the 1.2 update comes quick and before the launch sale ends! Looks like one of the best games out there!

I feel like I'm on an episode of Sliders and we just blasted through a wormhole to a parallel universe where a 4/5 isn't a very good score, then Rembrant exclaimed, "Q-ball how much longer do we have in this crazy place!?"

I think this pretty much sums up what everyone against the 4/5 star rating feels

Not saying thats what i think...

I think the fact that people are arguing for pages over .5 of a star is a pretty good argument against having the rating altogether.
