I wonder if Apple could take some measures to help boost app store pricing. For example Apple could limit how frequently an apps price could be adjusted; limit the percentage an apps price could be raised or lowered; freeze how soon an app price could be adjusted after launch. Also Apple could entice premium app pricing by taking a smaller fee for initial price of an app over the fees percent charged for IAPs.

More dictatorship from Apple is the last thing developers need.

Perhaps if I knew what this thread is actually about. I only addressed one point of your post.

The thread title has no correlation to the original post where you only talk about limiting the developers from pricing their own games and your second point is about Apple motivating the developers to make premium instead of F2P games. None of which has anything to do with 'boosting' AppStore prices.

If you want Apple to boost the prices they need to make the platform more respectable, which would mean:
    a) getting rid of 90% of apps on the AppStore that are complete drivel
    b) Apple promoting expensive premium games
    c) getting more quality iOS exlusives or ports of popular games from other platforms, which would require Apple to work hand in hand with the developers

Again, I have no idea what the point of this thread is or why the prices need a boost in the first place.

I've often thought the same thing, the main problem I see is that smaller developers would lose something that gives them a chance at gaining some visibility. I don't know what the solution would be.
