First impressions This is a fun little game! Never mind the the kiddie theme, I think anyone could enjoy this. It is the iPhone/iPod Touch version of those little plastic puzzles with an image on them, several holes in the image and ball bearings which you have to guide into the holes. The marbles are very beautify rendered, the backgrounds are clean, and tilt controls work well. The marbles roll at different speeds, and will pop out of the holes if you tilt too much, or hit them with another marble. After putting each marble in the appropriately colored hole, a picture appears in the background. Aside from playing for fun to see the pictures, there is a timer you are racing against, so you can see if you can beat your best time. A very good job by Spruce Technologies, thanks again for the code and the chance to try out this game!
Quick 1st impression: Fun but boy it's not a walk in the park the first time around. Atleast for me, I found myself having trouble on the first level but that is a good thing
Holy cow what a fun game. I agree with drelbs this IS a fun game for everyone. Ya it teaches kids about color, action-reaction, dexterity and so on but it's quite fun for adults as well. I'm actually curious how a specific polished adult version would be received...hummm. I think if your a Labyrinth fan even in the least (which I am) this app will tickle your fancy. If I was able to make a wish it would be to add sensitivity and ball friction controls, but It's just fine and perfect for kids in the current state. The sounds are great and accurate and the ball graphics are spot on with tiny reflections to boot. The background graphics are obviously suited for the young ones. Some pretty neat pictures in there as well. Yes I'll let the kids play but I'm playing first Thanks for the opportunity to try it out. It's a keeper.
Agree with drlebs bout everything he wrote. But he missed out a few key elements where things could be improved. -No music at all? Even the sound effects are limited to marble rolls only. There is no sound even when u finish a game. Kids need some enouraging cheers to keep them interested. -no high scores? There is no way to access your best times here. Online highscores might be overkill for a kids oriented game but atleast there should be local high scores here. -No way to calibrate the accelrometer in the game. My iPhone was tilted at 10degrees appx to keep the balls still. -The difficulty level is perfect for kids, may be a lik too easy for the rest of us. So it's another plus here. I have seen a lot of kids oriented games which are too difficult even for an eight year old. -other then the sounds I found the game pretty good at what it is supposed to do. The grafix are good enough and the physics for the marbles movement is well done. They behave exactly how they are supposed to. -check out iWriteWords Jacek. You'll get a pretty good idea what I think is a good example for sound effects in a kids game. All in all the I found the game more enjoyable then Kapsel Racer which has some problems which makes it less then desirable to me. I posted my impressions for the game in the thread for kapsel racer, I hope you checked them out already. That one needs a little more polish IMO. Coolkee on the other hand will be perfect once you add some kids music and some more sound effects there. Anyways other then that, a job well done here
No one's mentioned the collision detection for the holes... this was the first thing that jumped out at me, and then repeatedly throughout the game. Sometimes you can have a marble directly over a hole and it won't register as in.
Thanks!!! The last part of the codes. A7PHEA6Y4YEM X9M9KE7LFMWH 7APNL933AA6M 4AH944AYHPMM AWJHJM3LKYFT HXJAYPTLRPTK H7EA64FKYXYX THLTRHX7MJHN RTF74PY3F7RR 76PN74ARJ4XH JL47WKFAE436 J9FL47XLNF96 YEKHXPJYAPA4 MHMTHYFLJWKE FW9RR3WA74FE -- J.
You need to have the Marbles placed over the holes very very slowly. Or else they won't go in the hole. If u move too fast they'll simply bump off the holes and go straight over them.
Yeah I've done that... I've had the marble directly on top of the hole, not moving. The only way I can get it to register is by intentionally rolling off the hole then back on again, sometimes more than once.
Great game. and what I mean by deeper holes is I think that it should be a little eaisier to fall into the holes, but still as difficult as it is currently to fall out. This is just my opinion, but it doesn't feel like a real ball tilting game for me. Thanks again Dev! I put this review onto iTunes: "This is a great game while waiting ifor something, like your pizza to be ready for you to take home. It is a great pick up and play game. You just play for a few seconds, kills time, and is very entertaining for children and adults alike. No matter how old you are, unlocking those funny creatures faces for the first time is very funny. The different difficulty settings are great; I am still on easy, but slowly moving to medium. Hard seems way to difficult for me, but I have very shaky hands. The accelerometer control is perfect. Colors are great; glad to see that you have to put the colored balls in the corresponding hole; not just in any hole like some real ball tilting games. Two things that would make this better: More levels- hardly enough to keep me satisfied, but they do replay very eaisily. Larger/deeper holes- Make the holes eaisier to get into at first, you must be almost completly stoped before the ball falls into the hole, only not realistic part of this game IMO. Overall, this is a fantastic, fun game and well worth $2. Buy it !"
Have not put a review on iTunes yet. I think that Brypan has it pretty spot on... Game is overall a fun little app. Mostly likely appeal to younger kids but some adults and older kids will like it as well. Good for concentration. Biggest issue is having ball drop in the hole. I frequently had to roll over the hole several times to get it to stick. Even when exactly over, and just having it sit there, it would not "catch".. Had to leave, come back, leave, come back.. sort of frustrating. Colors are nice and pleasing.
