To this day I’m casually playing Dragon Hills (and 2) even though I’m like level 500 and there’s really nothing else to achieve - just for the fun out of it. This game has everything I like about previous titles. Great and polished visuals, intense music and most importantly wacky humor and frantic gameplay. It has reasonable grinding elements implemented that are not obnoxious and keep you coming back again and again. The only thing that bothers me is controls atm. It feels like I’d appreciate reversed controls instead. Right now it has similar controls to Witcheye, which means you swipe to direction you wanna go. But in this case you’re not moving by swiping. What I’d like instead is Angry Birds type of controls, which would mean to swipe opposite direction to charge and release to shoot. That would feel much more natural to me. But I guess it’s either to wait and hope it’ll be added in the future or to get used to it as it is. What do you guys think about the controls? Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #3 Royce, Feb 5, 2020 I don’t think the reverse would work in many situations. You would simply run out of screen real estate. When you aim a long jump offscreen, the camera actually moves toward where you’re going so if you were trying to move your finger the other way it would be offscreen very quickly. Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #4 Rocksaint, Feb 5, 2020 Yup. Super polished game. Similar to their previous games. Has great potential. But the controls just put me off. Couldn't get used to the direction. Like you said, would work much better with reversed controls instead where we would pull back to sling forward. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #5 macplash, Feb 5, 2020 I gave it an hour or so and I kinda got used to it actually. From time to time I do it backwards, especially when things are hectic on the screen, but it doesn't bother me as much as in very first minutes tbh. But if there is an option to invert controls in the future I'd definitely go for it. It still would feel more natural to me. And I get Royce's point about the camera and running out of the screen but on many occasions the camera's actually zoomed out enough for inverted controls to work eventually. But yeah, as I said, it's possible to get used to it. Anyway, after getting control "issues" out of the picture, this is pretty amazing game. It's on par with previous games so if you enjoyed those, this is a no-brainer. I'm only in Chapter 5 but things are getting pretty hectic and the game's picking up the pace. I'm having some troubles with those homing missiles chasing me constantly. And yet... It's so much fun! I was under impression the game has been in beta test here in upcoming games category, so it’s strange nobody noticed it before. Anyway, better late than never I guess. I just can’t get into it it feels totally unintuitive to me and I just keep messing things up. Leaving that aside if you don’t have an issue with the controls it’s very polished and plays well. rebel twins Well-Known Member Jul 16, 2012 156 4 18 #8 rebel twins, Feb 5, 2020 Hi guys! Thank you for playing our game! We're happy that you like it. Every comment and impression is very important to us and helps us to improve the game so we read all reviews and comments. About the controls... We tested both directions and that way is less tiring and game can be more dynamic. Reverse controls demand more focusing. We just want to make this game fun. You just sling your character into enemy you can find, you can hurry your character when he's running. Another thing is that you need a lot more space to use reverse controls so your character need to be placed in the middle of the screen. In that case you don't have so much time to react, so the game becomes a lot more stressful. I can imagine that to people playing game with similar controls (but reverse) it can be quite strange to get used to it. Please give yourself a little time. @macplash Thank you for noticing translation bug. But hopefully with some more time it’ll become natural for me doing it this way instead. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #10 syntheticvoid, Feb 6, 2020 Yup - also just want to echo the comments here.... I'm REALLY digging this one. Personally, I think the controls are perfect. Upgrades and currency earnings are decent - I think they're a little more balanced than previous titles.... the graphics are fantastic, the enemy attacks are difficult, but not random at all.... you'll be able to learn their behaviors fairly quickly.... It's just.... it's all great. I am curious what triggers power-ups to drop... is there anything specific? Is it timed? Anotherkellydown likes this. I’m in Chapter 45 which obviously indicates I spent a lot of time with this game and yet, reversed controls feels immediately more natural than original. But I’m at this point it actually doesn’t matter anymore. I can switch between them and play either way. Still, it didn’t have such natural feeling when I started.
