I have hide inside a shelter. I have 2 shelters only at that time (bakery and cafe), but both of them get destroyed. How many shelter do I need? I don't get it with that 12+ random meaning. Is that the minimum amount of shelter that I need to have to survive the storm? Thanks for your reply
This helps a lot understanding the core mechanics. I also don't understand the "12", "18", etc. Do I need 12 shelters to survive the first storm? That's a lot of shelters I understand your point, but I find the core loop more complex than other roguelikes around. I also love the fact that while levels are always the same, you don't play all levels on a single playthrough and the people/tasks are randomized. That gives a lot of replayability and expansion possibilities, like adding a pack which increases the amount of available maps or something like that. Also, the fact that there are 6 playable characters helps a lot with replayability. As for minigames, I've found five: Space Invaders sideways, kill enemies coming from left/right/top, kill boss and minions (fire throwing boss), a side scroller where you have to go from left to right and a Virtual Boy-esque platformer (all red). I suspect there are more. Am I right? They add a lot to the overall experience. It's like having all the gaming experiences in a single game. I'm missing a brawler minigame a la Final Fight
So in my last game I prayed and prayed and prayed and... forgot to open a way out of the level, so the lightnings got me. I was lucky to continue, but into a new level. I've left it there atm because I have to get some work done. This game has me hooked. I love it
Yes I have had similar runs, the game (like life!) can be very cruel to the protagonist! I managed to die with Spoiler understanding for the first time to day, rather than Spoiler fear or even Spoiler terror . Truely amazing and it lingers with you long after putting down the iPad. I hope the soundtrack becomes available at some point.
So prison, talking to NPCs, shelters, mini games, scaping from storm... Is that all? Is there something after that?
Thanks for the info. I'm gonna be very busy for the next couple of days, but I'll definitely buy this later this week (if I buy it now it will be too hard for me to resist trying it out).
Hey, hey, HEY! Whose processor are you calling "weak?!" Seriously though, so it runs, as in "well," or it runs, as in "runs?" DBC
You also have random aspects which account for replayability, how's all put together, the music, the dialogues, the ambient, etc. Of course, what there is, on the surface, could be more or less resumed to what you say. The magic of the game is how everything's brought together. Your description could well describe Zelda, Oceanhorn, Final Fantasy or any other adventure game. The key is how devs get all together to create a great adventure. All in all, I find this game a masterpiece. I still have to go past the first storm in town, which is frustrating, but I find myself coming back to it every time I can.
Wow, thank you so much! I'm humbled. As for surviving, I intended it to be hard enough for first time players to not survive the first storm, but for repeat players to get further. How close are you to surviving the 13-16 bolts? How many times are you dying and are you exiting the levels or falling? Maybe I should lower the bolts in the next update.
Don't change anything for me, the game's fine as it is. The thing is that I can't play too much and I still have to find the balance between lightning and prayer. It's not the game's fault, but my fault. What would help a lot is a log of all the things the NPC's tell you, maybe as ASCII code in the pause screen, but I'm not sure if that would make the game too easy...
It's 13 to 16 bolt ? Ouch. Now that's what I call hard, no wonder I always end up beeing zapped It's maybe a little too harsh. A progression in the amount of bolts (8-11 then 10-13 then 12-15) would probably be better no ?
I'm sold just by watching that trailer. I dunno if you made it yourself, Jason, or hired some professionals to make it, but that trailer is really damn good, and the music is perfect. The game looks fantastic as well, and I hope it sells well. Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to make this game? And how many people were involved?
Well, you start with 5 free shelters that prevent between 5-13 bolts. So you only have to be in the green a little to move on. I might bump it down a couple in future versions. I'm just one person and it took about a year of 14 hour days to make. I did the trailer myself too. You're not the only one. I can improve them a little by extending the active touch area out side the boxes, but there's only so much I can do. It's a touch pad. If anyone else has any recommendations I'm up for hearing them.
