IGN's AppStore update (ASU) is something I look forward to each day in my email. Getting featured there as a new app was nothing but positive. That should help other sites take notice too. Try not to freek out about sales or what not like most new devs. They typically end up in a panic before word can even spread about a cool new game and then they sabotage their own business with a sale or panic sounding posts. What you made is cool and is getting well received. Tweaking the controls to have a bigger radius is good so if it becomes popular you won't get inundated with poor reviews over something so minor.
Would like to see a floating invisible vstick option with the button on the right also invisible to add to the mood of the game. Or all moveable with a transparency setting.
Maybe you can take a look to Oceanhorn controls wich is quite similar to your scene (there is a dpad and one/two action buttons).
I'm surprised to hear the music not getting a mention in most posts. It's some of the best music I've heard in a game this year, on any platform.
Have to ask, why you didn't release on the regular release date, it's hard gaining press on an odd release date.
I have to agree, especially when a lot of outlets were away for thanksgiving. Hopefully it'll pick up more traction and I think it will since it's pretty amazing. Fingers crossed
Yep, it will run fine on 4, but it's aliased and some minor cosmetic things were taken out to accommodate the weak iphone 4 processor. 4S is anti alias with all cosmetic features.
What's a regular release date? People told me to hold off on things while the new consoles were being released. Wait til after Thanksgiving.
Usually major releases release on Wed night 8 pm Pacific time. It's usually best to wait for it cause the major publications do a lot of writeups, and there are many people that just come on even here on wed nights to check on major releases. Sometimes some release on thursday, but it's rare when games release at the beginning of the week, probably would catch most publications off guard.
I don't think it hurt at all launching on an off day. It didn't get lost in the sea of Wednesday night launches and got good press coverage so far since there wasn't as much to cover. All in all, not a bad launch considering how many weekly launches end up getting completely overlooked and the threads die off so quick. Plus if GTA San Andreas ends up dropping this week it's better to be launching on a different day!
I had this game sitting in my watch list until I saw the IGN App Store update... Seeing it there made me immediately go and buy it. Glad I did. Really like it. Congrats on a great release!
The music is awesome too. My problem is that I usually mute the phone, so I tend to miss the music, but it plays an important atmospheric role in this game.
Same here. I just played 2 characters, first time was so confusing. Later, I can figure out what's going on though still has some confusions at my mind.. haha. Yes, it's hard. Luckily, I could find the exit room. I just ran ran and keep running when the lightning hit me behind. It was an incredible experiment. That little town really made me confused. I entered a room (Run: garbage collection), then the system was changed suddenly and Game Over... Hmm, actually how many stage can we get for each play? It looks like I get 3 different stages for each time play. Our main base is that jail area right? Dev, if you read this how many score can we get from this game? So far only saw null, null. Is it matter if we don't have enough shelter?
Here's the inside scoop of how it works, but maybe knowing kills some of the mystery. If you're stuck and you've played many times and can't get past the first storm maybe this will help. There are 11 areas. 8 big. 3 small. They are randomized. Every 2 levels you have to hide in your shelter where the game potentially ends. It goes big, small, shelter. Big, big, shelter. Big, small, shelter...then the end. There are also lots of cut scenes and things that happen in between all these. To survive first storm/shelter: 12 + random(1-4) bolts 2nd: 18 + random(1-4) 3rd: 28 flat (you need almost all of them) small shelters shield 1 bolt, med 2, large 3. There is total of 16 points you can win. You get +2 for each stage you escape. +1 if you lose/fall in a stage. There are also 3 bonus points you can gain by exiting the stage through the door rather than the larger openings. You get 1 extra point for winning the game. No matter what in the end your score is made null. If you die a lot, try buying the car parts from the people around town.
