I don't think it's worth it. I think there's a lot more people who haven't upgraded to iOS7 (and don't plan on doing so) than people who own that controller. Making it iOS7-only will kill this game for those who are still on older devices like the iPhone 4, which a lot of people still are (sure, you can update this device in theory but not really). Had this been iOS7 only I for one would never have bought it. Whereas I don't think people will refuse to buy it because it doesn't have controller support. Either way, really wonderful game so far. Can't really compare it with anything except maybe a bad LSD trip. Which is a good thing, in this case. A very good thing.
If it goes iOS 7 only then I won't be able to play. I'm already stuck on a 4S, I don't want to cripple the system for new games since what I read was ios7 eats another 100mb of memory above ios6
If you're interested in retaining users with hardware prior to the 5 (or perhaps the 4s), I wouldn't do it. Having read all the reports from professionals and laypeople online, as well as seeing the difference in my own home between an iP4 with iOS7 (wife) and an iP4 with iOS6 (me), there is absolutely no chance of me updating to iOS7 before getting an iP5... It sounds like the iP4s does better with iOS7, and after playing with my wife's phone, I certainly hope so, because her iP4 is essentially gimped for gaming. DBC
I have a 4s with ios7 and it performs quite well with gaming. Unfortunately, the most graphic-intensive games suffer a bit more slowdowns than with ios6. These slowdowns could well be lack of optimization for ios7 too, who knows. I'm happy with the 4s with ios7. Back to Continue? and the fact that the more devices it works on, the better, not only would I not implement controller support, but I'd try to get the game working correctly on non-retina devices. Someone said a few posts back that the game worked fine on a non-retina ipod, but the text was too big. It might be interesting marketing-wise to get the game working correctly for those people too...
I wouldn't go ios 7 anytime soon. I'm on ios 6 and not intending to upgrade my phone yet as I'm on iPhone 4.
I think it's okay to go for controllers like the powershell and loose older iOS support. Especially for a game with a virtual joystick. I love the game and the immersive experience, but I am always fighting with virtual joysticks. Apple published numbers about iOS7 adoption being quite high, and I think people who play newer games are more likely to go with also new OS, even if if mean some performance issues. So I think you actually don't lose that many users... I also hope iOS7 will improve on performance. It runs really slow on my iPad 3 and iPad mini. Being the premium brand Apple can't allow bad performance on devices they actually still sell (iPad 2, iPad mini).
You always talk about iPad 2 running iOS7 really slow, right? I have an iPad 3 with iOS7 and it runs flawlessly. Continue? Works amazingly well too! I don't expect iOS7 to perform better on iPad 2, since it's just an Apple strategy to get people to renew the devices. I have an iPhone4 with iOS6 and a 4s with iOS7, and I think I'll keep them like this for a long time, since I believe these are the last iOS's which will run smoothly in them.
V 1.3 just uploaded with all the changes. Hopefully it will be approved by apple by Friday! Probably going to hold off on the game shell update for a long time, but did order one!
I also have an iPad 3. I am mostly annoyed with Safari performing bad. Continue will perform great I am sure. I played it on the phone. Still I was talking about the iPad 2. Apple still sells them as the entry level option with iOS7 for 399$. I think that's crazy!
Yeah, they should have made the ipad 4 the entry level option, ipad 2 is way too far behind at this point.
It's my birthday! The greatest present ever would be if you could give Continue? a five star review in the itunes store. Thank you to everyone who already had reviewed!
I've already done so. My present will be to update the review when the update goes live, so that people can see it EDIT: Happy birthday, btw!!!!
I've reviewed it 5 stars. People who reviewed it badly for the controls should update their reviews soon.
There's a new PC version of the game up for anyone who purchased it via Humble Bundle. Here are the main changes (which are different than those made to the Apple version): No screen flickering Keyboard lag eliminated Things occurring in fast-motion properly calibrated
Also, finally bit the bullet and looked at sales for the week. Sold a little over 1000...a lot less than I hoped. I'm still in the red as far as money goes. Thank you once again to everyone who wrote a review.
