@dev - now that this was Greenlit, would you recommend getting it now on IOS or waiting for PC/Steam?
You can get it for desktop now on Humble Bundle! Yay! continue9876543210.com On a sadder note, continue? did not make the new games section of the front of the itunes store. there's a hurdle it didn't get over. bummed.
I'm still on an iPod Touch 3G, and while the game loads and plays, the text is huge and unreadable. Basically ruins the experience. Bummed too because this looks so great. Guess I'll have to try the PC version, but my rig has been on the fritz for some time now, so it will likely be a while. Sad face.
Hey. Yes the game requires 4 & up. I didn't realize iTunes would even let you download it for that device. It's not supposed to. The text is double size because 3g and lower are not retina. Can you email me at jason [@] jasonoda [ . ] com and I'll give you a Humble Bundle gift code to get a free desktop version? I've added a requirements thing to the itunes description while I figure out why that happened.
Oh, thanks, that's really nice of you! This sometimes happens and I knew the risk I was taking since there were no posted requirements. But thanks, I'll take you up on that. I wanted to support the game. I always love to see something that's different, made with real passion.
The reason this game is worth buying is that the Dev is here in this thread with open ears. I have noticed that more and more here on the TA forums, what incredible power we have here to 'better' games with our advice. Something like this game was very obviously a labour of love, a serious project with a lot of heart poured into it. Awesome that we have the chance to sort little issues out with this dynamic relationship. ps. We remember and support devs who do this, and there is no doubt that this results in ripple effects that potentially make a few bucks for people that deserve it. (How long until private forum soft launch teams get dividends? )
The game's great IMO, hopefully it will get notice and positive reviews. Just keep supporting it and listening to the community as you do, smoothing all the things we players see can be smoothed, and you'll have an amazing (more amazing!) piece of software here. I don't remember Junk Jack being too highlighted in the App Store, but it did very well. Their key to success was supporting and improving the game over the years and never doing a price sale (yeah, that one has never gone on sale in all these years!). After its success, Junk Jack X did go all over to the top of the charts.
Get in your changes, here's where I'm at, need to submit soon Here's a list of improvements made today: 4 control schemes added (previously mentioned) option to switch jump/attack buttons on side scroll revised more detailed instructions (too many people wanted it explained to them rather than figuring it out) a way to access instructions from pause screen slower running in first start area (yeah probably a little hyper for there) enemies in battle before first shelter lev all around much slower and have less life a slight lowering of bolts for all storms slower scarecrows wanderer never shows up again after telling story once (per level) rare pause bug in war level fixed autorotate! Aaaaaaaaanything else?
Jason, gotta ask...it says on your site that if the iOS version really takes off, you'll possibly look into porting the game to Android. Ummm...how's that looking?
sounds good! As I said before, maybe have a look at the thing that the character is rather 'guided' around corners and obstacles than completely stopped dead by them, when accidentally running into them.
Game center achievement... only if possible... but i wish the control update can be submitted before the end year. this game should be get more attention have you post your game at indiedb.com?
This game and dev gets my full support. Never heard of it before and it's only just come into my radar and what a unique experience it is. I'd encourage TA to promote this more and give it the exposure it needs. Very interesting.
I'd also encourage the posters on here to take the few seconds of time to rate the game. Many are commenting but not bothering to rate. Take the time to support the dev in anyway possible.
Fantastic, thanks! I hope the update goes live before the Christmas closure. As for things I'd love to see: GameCenter achievements (already mentioned) and difficulty levels. On a medium term, if things go well, you could also add more minigames and levels, but this is just dreaming The game design is great now. Also, as someone just said, take your time to write a review in the App Store. This helps a lot and if you want to continue seeing great quality and innovative games as this one, you should take 5 minutes to do so
It's sad that your game isn't working out well. Beside the small problem with the current controls - which are going to be improved - the game is very cool : Music/atmosphere are top notch. Maybe it's a bit too "artsy" for the masses ?
Anyone watch the brilliant videogame doc with Charlie Brooker? When he spoke about little indy games, games like Continue are exactly that. It might have less style than the big budget releases but has tenfold the substance. It's an art form to create this ilk of game and make sure you don't end up with something too self indulgent or pretentious. This game deserves to be a monster.
Got killed during the second storm again. Have you guys found the programmer's logs? I found two in my last game. I wonder if the stories they tell are true things that happened to J.Oda or if they are just inventions that add to the overall experience. In any case, it's a beautiful game which must be played with sound on. The music is amazing and it adds to the overall experience.
