If you want to complain to Apple about this:

    [email protected]

I did. Aftershock Innovations released the same game twice in 20 minutes yesterday with a different "version number" in the title, though there is no claim that it is a version change.

    Edited to change email address

    Trend is catching on!

An other developer has the same paid game posted twice directly on top of each other. Go to the dice section on iTunes " release date" the identical game with two slightly different names is posted directly on top of each other.
You would think that this is actually a negative thing. But the app has moved in to the top 20

    a naughty dices game

if you; as a consumer want to clean up the app store and contribute something back to the community - this would be the best thing. it is appalling that people abuse the app store; either wish pushing updates every day (with no change), writing their own reviews or even placing junk on the application store. it is generally ok if a developer posts a bad app; as long as it is their own - and, they focus on improving that app before releasing new ones.

i think this would be an excellent thing for some of the younger ones here to do - use it for your future references; it is a community service. to have someone else do it within apple would incur costs and that would probably be thrown back onto the developers and consumers. not good.

I think Apple should limit the number of app submissions to something like 1 app per week per account. Most of the serious developers doesn't even publish an app every week.

i have a common cross-platform library - when i update it, all my apps get updates. being restricted from updating to 1 app a week would be a nightmare; so, maybe it should be 1 new submission per week? but i am sure someone will complain about that too :p

I hope others do complain. I will be releasing my first game in a few weeks and I don't want it shoved off the new releases page up by all the crap these particular devs are putting out.

    Here's that link again...

    [email protected]

BTW, I'll be starting a thread in the "Upcoming Games" section in a few days or so.

Well...I do not think other developers should complain about other developers thru apple

I also do not like these marketing schemes either...but having a title starting with a .... is not a bad idea......but I do not think I would do that :)

BTW having the same game with new graphics...this is how the game industry works for years......

They have a good reason to complain; because of Apple's flawed approval system, the legit (and awesome) developers are missing out on publicity and visibility on the App Store because there are only a few ways to get noticed directly on the App Store:
    • Top Charts
    • New & Noteworthy, What's Hot, etc.
    • New Releases Charts
    • Big Banner Ads
With these developers spamming applications, the honest developers don't get as much publicity. Therefore, it's harder to climb the Top Charts. That's 2 out of the 4 ways gone already. The banner ads are hard to obtain for everyone so they're not a reliable way to get noticed.

It's funny; I haven't checked the new release chart in about 10 months; I get all my games from the Top 100 and TA.

  9. What's your opinion on creating a Touch Arcade account name with 1 post that starts with "a"? :)

Are you maybe the developer of all those "a" games? ;)

Mind Juice, (you must be Canadian!)

Wow, what a great catch! It probably is the "a" Man himself. He probably signed up on touch arcade (shaking in his boots) hoping that nobody complains to Apple about his behaviour. AF you have pushed me of the dice list several times with your flood of "a" games. I am hoping you are running out of colours to add in front of your games so you slow down with this nonsense. You will get banned!

It's 1 out of 4 actually...few or none of the spam apps ever end up in New & Noteworthy etc. or top charts, and they definitely don't get banner ads. The new releases charts have the least effect on sales anyway. The worst effect of the spam apps is taking up the time of the staff doing approvals, and I expect it makes searching harder.

  13. Yep...pretty much. Just out in South Surrey actually.

    Are you a developer too?

  14. Seriously though...are you making money by releasing all those different "a" games?

You must be right? It would be pretty stupid to keep doing it if you weren't.

    It is?

The games I'm referring to don't even have new graphics. Nothing but the title is different. They are free but they sell "points" or credits or something.

Perhaps, as others have said, you are one of them. Who better to complain about shady devs than other devs? Nice try.
