One of the reasons I got my iPad was drooling over this game, I am definitely in. Now if only you guys would make a icewinddale or bg clone....
yeah piracy...one day after we lowered the requirements to 4.2 our game was cracked and ready to be downloaded on several sites. I hope at least some of the guys buy the game after they played it a little... @the9quad: you know, what you just said made my morning better. thank you! we do our best to continue making quality games.
by the way: I'd love to get some feedback from players who defeated the dragon Raartaark. was it to easy? to hard? was it fun at all?
Just finished the campaign. The final boss was fun and pretty challenging. I still found that the toughest battle was the master assassin and his mob. Overall I think this game is definitely one of a kind as it does not bother with the typical wordiness of RPGs and gets down to business with great tactical combat. That said the story is good and the character personalities really come through On the last boss I think the main challenge was to figure out how to prevent the Mage and the archer from getting hurt by the smaller enemies. By then both of the tanks (I ended up using the dwarf as a tank for most of the latter part of the game) are nearly invincible but you end up having to split them up. At least that's how I played it. I did find dwarfs machines(arrow shooting things) to be pretty underpowered. I could never build enough of them to make them count. The only times I used them was when I could put my Minotaur in between them and the enemies. Total playtime 14 hours and change. Hopefully you guys decide to release the second part with the crew beating the main bad guy. Couple of small things: -The zoom and inventory buttons are too small -Cant loot individual items. Double tapping on an item when looting does nothing so you always have to grab everything and then throw away stuff you don't need. - when leveling up can't dump all three points into one skill (eg healing)
hey greengiant987, thank you for your review! yeah, I agree, the master assassin is definitly one tough sucker. the main reason why he's so hard to beat is because of all the other assassins who come along with him. I'm contemplating wether I should give the dragon more hitpoints or not. as you said, in the final stage your guys are pretty strong. as to the towers/traps of the dwarf: which class was your dwarf? I use the towers and traps in nearly every situation, but I agree: in the late game there are less situations where you can set up defensive positions. I intend to integrate more situations in the campaign addon. the addon will come. we currently have our hands full with our second game "Time of Heroes" (3D turn based strategy in the world of Altland, 400 years before the happenings in Companions )and the random dungeon crawler. once finished I'll start with the dwarfen fortress maps etc. will you play the game again with another party combination? EDIT: we added a border to the icons. yes you can. drag and drop the items to the bag to the right of the inventory interface. the line gets purple and the items will be transfered to your backpack. that was a design decision. we had to balance the skills this way. otherwise special combinations would have become overwhelming.
I just noticed that the update is live in the App Store! I've had Companions since day 1, but have never gotten around to playing it. First I was waiting for the initial update to smooth out the launch bugs, then I was waiting for the formation update, then I got sidetracked ... But this looks like the definitive version of the game (until the mentioned dungeon crawler addon). So, time to jump in and play!
I noticed this dropped today, too. Unfortunately, it didn't show up in time for me to download it before I left the house so I have been staring longingly at a very smug App Store icon with a large, friendly "1" in upper right corner. Gah!! Anyway, it looks like there's a LOT of free content here and I'll pick up a bit of Ur-Steel to show my appreciation. Thanks for all the support you've given this game. It's a winner, for sure.
It's not letting me buy the game yet - it says "This item is being modified" so I guess Apple is taking their sweet time.
cool update Nice update even though I never found a shop person but I didnt get a chance to play a whole lot, because I die alot to..... maybe it's to micro managey (if thats a word) for me. Or maybe I just suck at it lol It just seems a tad slow for me then you have to pause and give your peeps commands. I just got to the lava area so I dont think I am that far in. But maybe I will keep working at it and try to get better As far as the dev's go I have never seen such good response to customers, they add in all kinds of things if you make a suggestion. They take pride in there games and it shows!
@amenbrother: when you load an old save game, the map you saved won't have a shopkeeper on it. on the next new level you'll find one, for sure you're on map 4 now I asume, so you'll find the shopkeeper on the island to the right of the starting zone. as to the difficulty: the tunnel (map 3) is quite hard, because of all the ranged enemies appearing. you won't die so much in the lava caves. also: always make full use of the tactical pause! and thank you for your kind words, feels good!
Well whatever Amenbrother said is really true about the developers. THey really take pride in their work and take customers ideas and comment into much considerations. Besides what i love most is how often the game gets an update =) Good JOb Devs... by the way can i know where do get the random dungeon map ? is it on the single map option or i have to beat the game once before unlocking ?
the random crawler is not yet finished. give us another month! EDIT: just to clarify, the random crawler will be an in-app purchase, but the new campaign maps will be free of charge, as promised!
one ur-steel is 2 gold. you also have a slim chance to find ur-steel just by playing the game and killing boss mobs or through transmutation of unique items. just so you know. we appreciate your support, but as I said earlier in the thread, you can still play the game without spending money buying ur-steel.
hmmm Maybe I went in the wrong direction to meet the shopkeeper, do I do the transmutation at him also? I cant wait to see some sweet stuff in the store! Also as far as the difficulty I seem to run low on health pots for some reason lol so I depend on my mage healing alot!
ups, should have mentioned this: yes, transmutation is done by the shopkeeper! which difficulty level are you playing on?
Thanks Sweet cant wait to find the shopkeeper, first I need to work my 10 or so hours at my job ughhhhhh As to difficulty I believe its normal, in order to be able to get all acheivments?
