Hey Dustin! Say, did you work with "The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets" for the game's soundtrack? The Thickets (a.k.a. TDOTHT) are a pure Lovecraftian band with a lot of songs just from the Cthulhu Mythos and I really love them. I'm desperately waiting for the game and will play it to their songs... Especially their new album "The Shadow Out Of Tim" is very cool. Recommended for every HPL-fan: http://www.thickets.net And here are some youtube videos / songs (some are also fanmade): http://www.youtube.com/user/thickets
music Hi! I was wanting just to say - soundtracks in the necronomicon game is just something unbelievable... its so nice, organic music with the bg-music that flash site has... if you'll play the game at night with completely silent around... you'll get real "pleasure" of playing.. thanks) I am playing the game now few times on day before release, its very cool if you'll go deep with every message in the game, every step in story line... so fantastic, you'll not find any better game now on appstore, believe me. Thats awesome. it was submitted at saturday, 5 days past, so about 4-5 left to release moment! when you'll have it on your iDevice - just turn off everything around and get real enjoyment of real strategy game, I just dreaming if all games could be so quality as this on appstore, man... you will touch menus in this game and even before starting game you'll be so happy with getting this... huh..
Well, just wanted to point to the Thickets. Should be interesting for every Lovecraftian or Cthulhu-fan. But, wait.... are you a beta tester? Or is there a flash game available?
Hey Vovin, thanks for the heads up on The Thickets! I've never heard of them before but I'll definitely check them out. Always great to hear about anything Lovecraft. BTW, you guys will also want to try playing the game sometime using your headphones or ear buds, a lot of the sound effects and background ambiance utilize creepy subsonic and low-frequency sounds which don't come across through the devices tiny speakers, it really adds an ominous effect to the game while playing. Vkylemnko's our programmer from Ukraine, if it weren't for him there would be no Necronomicon Horror, he really worked hard on this staying up every night past 3 a.m. at his office writing code for months - I feel very lucky, because I couldn't have found a better partner to work with on this project. I also see you're a fan of "The Unspeakable Vault of Doom"! - Goomi (Francois Launet, creator of the comic) worked with us on this game too, you'll see some of his serious artwork in the game - and I'd really like to work on something else with him in the future!
Yes! The Thickets wrote legendary lyrics like: Violet flows from the wound in your chest Black is the hole in which you rest Your heart of gold was ripped in two Soaked in the sickness that is you. Grey is the box that holds my head Yellow's the wind when everyone's dead Red is the blood dried on the rope While green is your last hope. Colour me green - Green is the colour of my god Colour me green - Green is the colour of my god Colour me green - Green is the colour of my god Colour me green - Green is the colour of my god Here's the video: He made love to the fishies... he made love to the fishies.... *LOL* Search in the iTunes Store for: "Hillside Thickets" What... Goomi? Really? Wow... I am really amazed!
Hi Vovin ! sure there is flash-site (I meant flash site, not game, but we will working on flash-version as well, after iPad and win/mac ; ) of the game: http://www.rive-fantasy.com/necronomicon-website/index.html and don't miss forum: http://necronomicon.forum-motion.com check the bg-music/sfx ; ) I am musician also ! somewhere deep inside.. ; ) we all are - at least fans of music.
Well then, a (late) welcome to our forums at Touch Arcade! And yes, I'm a musician, too, but I am concentrating on guitars, piano and singing - a "normal" musician, I am not composing G game music and sounds. It's a hobby. But I am really excited about your game, can't wait anymore So, how did you and Dustin happen to meet? The Ukraine is not Californias neighbourhood...
thanks : ) I didn't meant to move away from this forum to the game's forum. But there you can find some info about the game, in tech-support I've opened a secret about achievements etc : ) hehe, insane people always finding each other : )
That's why I am on Touch Arcade! *grins* Lost a bit of sanity over the games creation process, yes? But I think that Apple is a bit show these days with the approval process. It shouldn't be more than a week until a game is reviewed and released by Apple. It's really a pain to wait for this game. As far as I can tell from the screenshots, you really seem to have caught the mood and the horror from the Cthulhu Mythos in a most entertaining way. To play around with Lovecrafts heritage is surely no easy task - and you have to meet some high expecations of lovecraftian people. But I am sure you all done well.
Thanks. Dustin deserve these words, I just coded everything into iDevice : ) you bet : ) especially for Apple's hardware... he, when I gived the game to a girl - to move worms by finger on credits-screen in the game - she said: "its disgusting" - I made wide smile and thought - cool, then people will like it - something that can get real feelings, not arcade not-realistic things, I go for smoke and when back...lol she was playing the game ! almost finished base scene
Yeah... it's hard to resist the athmosphere of the Cthulhu Mythos once you've got hooked. I have a big collection of Lovecraft books, music, games... everything I could find. Now I am missing only your game. What do you like most of your game? And... btw., how do you like these?: Sadly, the second one is not mine... yet...
Any update from Apple yet? i'm itching to get this! Have always fancied giving the Arkham Horror boardgame a go but never got round to it (or finding enough people to play to make it worthwhile) have you played it? Maybe Apple is being extra strict after letting idos through Sweet guitars btw!
Same here - never played the board game, just the Cthulhu parody card game and of course the role-playing game (alot).
That was the second edition. I played the first edition. Oh yeah... and I played the Mythos card game for a while...
We're still waiting in line for a review as of this morning, maybe they'll get to it by the weekend but who can say? I just hope it's not rejected over some weird thing, I can't imagine what that would be, but you never know... I've played the older version of Arkham Horror (more than a decade ago), and its influence on the game is obvious, but personally I think it's far too complicated and lengthy, especially if you don't have a group of hardcore players nearby to host the game. Mostly I played the CoC role-playing game with friends, but that's also become a thing of the past too. One of the biggest reasons I made this game is because I like to play them, but no longer have the time or live somewhere where there's a regular group of players of my age - and it also gets quite expensive to invest in all the RPG books and supplements and all that. I'm pretty optimistic that if enough people try this out, through future updates and ports, this game could evolve into something bigger that could satisfy both old-school CoC/AH players like myself, and bring in lots of new players too, and feel something like a traditional role-playing and game board type experience.
