Groups I played with didn't - I can remember first using dice to represent everybody.

We loved Cardboard Heroes to pieces when those came out!

  2. Lovecraft has said that the word Necronomicon, translated from Greek, means "an image of the law of the dead": nekros="dead", nomos="law", eikon="image".

Kind of creepy, if you ask me... Lovecraft has said he made it up entirely, but some people believe it's real, that there is some historical substance behind it. There are actual rituals and cults who pay homage to Lovecrafts Old Ones in real life, people have even murdered in its name, the Simon Necronomicon (published by Avon Books) has been introduced as evidence in courts during black magic murder trials.

  3. I meant to quote you (see above post)

  4. I remember the first D&D figures were made out of pewter, than that became expensive so I think they started using lead after awhile. I don't remember any 'official' CoC games figures (we used D&D ones back in the 80's), but you have to admit they would've been cool...:D

  5. H.P. Lovecraft at work...

Nice work if you can get it...

I've never played a card game aside from the kind with a Jack, King, Queen, etc., but this is interesting to me as I'm a fan of H.P. Lovecraft. Hopefully it will be something I can get into.

  7. Thanks! If you're into role-playing and strategy card games I hope not to disappoint.

Do you have an estimated submission date, Dustin?

  10. We're aiming for a mid July submission/release, and there will be more previews and reviews forthcoming as we draw closer. We'll probably have more specifics and some new material to show soon.

  15. New Cards

We're in the early stages of beta testing, but still adding new cards daily. As it stands now you'll begin the game with a deck of over 90 unique cards (not duplicates), all of which will interact with each other in novel ways. This is a card which will help strengthen your weaker players and investigators, provided they're of a certain class and meet certain requirements, enabling them to summon and control demons during gameplay.

When I first saw the title for this game, I immediately thought of Giger's book of art called the Necronomicon (which I know better than Lovecraft's). I got SO excited since I love Giger's work. However, this still looks quite interesting, and I love TCGs/RPGs. Looking forward to seeing more.

Wow. Really cool looking game you have there! The art work looks amazing! I'm a Lovecraft fan myself, so this is right up my alley. I may have missed this back in the thread somewhere, but...
There used to be two collectible card games based on the Cthulhu Mythos. One was called "Mythos" CCG back in the 90's. The other one was called "Call of Cthulhu" CCG in the early 2000's. Anyone remember these? And also, is this game going to have a CCG feel to it? Is it inspired by those card games? That would be awesome!
