To be completely honest, I'm not a big fan on 'baby colours'... There are to many bright colours, however I have never played the game. If its not added already you should add a weather feature, for when it rains the people come out with umbrellas. A rollercoaster maker has to be implemented, and maybe like they had on 'Themepark World' for playstation 1 where you can be one of the people and move around in ' First Person' view and get to ride the rides?
So if you released a lite version does that mean there will be a paid version as well - with or without IAP? Astro Ranch has still left me stinging with the freemium model that you had and then all the confusing versions. I purchased what turned into the free version on the day it was released, got the special statue and everything; but never got the upgrade like so many others and was asked to pay another 10 dollars to unlock it - again; so please forgive me if I wait to see how this plays out.
Love the weather idea Happytodd - would be cool to see the little people running into the games arcade and cafes when it starts raining and only a few hardy souls staying out to ride the coasters! Could add some nice light strategy elements around having to have umbrella stalls and a good mix of all weather attractions. New England Gamer sorry to hear you had issues with Astro Ranch. I had hoped we had sorted everyone out on that front. If you still want to play I can sort you out - just PM me and I'll get right on it. You'll be glad to know that there is no premium/free split at all. Funpark Friends is free with IAP and you'll never HAVE to buy IAP items - they are there for people that are impatient or want a certain level of customisation. Obviously we hope you will pay for the extras but there is no pressure! The lite version is just limited to AUS, NZ and Ireland but you can move your account around between devices so if you start playing the Lite version you'll be able to continue in the full version. You'll also be able to play on your iPhone on the bus and then on your Android Tablet/Playbook at home if you want and so on! Thanks P
Well that is encouraging! Does that mean then that the lite is only a designation for the limited release? Add: will there be any kind of social interaction in this game? Like gifting between friends or something of that sort? Visiting other parks? Sorry if this is asked an answered I just didn't seem to see it.
Yes to visiting friends parks - in for main release and yes to gifting, that will be in the first update. Finally yes - lite is just for the limited release. Hope that helps! p
Well it's about time Omg I'm really excited for this. Rct was one of my favorite games of all time, and I have been waiting for a port or something here. I agree about the roller coSter buikder though, would be nice.
The project is totally open once we get to release. If enough people want a rollercoaster builder then we will put it in. It's just not on the list of inital post-release update features at this stage, there are other more important things that require a lot less work to be done first. If this is something that you want just keep telling us - we will get it in! However having just added an in-game level editor to our Dr Who game I can say with 1st hand experience that is A LOT of work for a very small number of players that will actually use it!!! CHeers P
How TAGPLAY Build Rides (Part 1) So, recently we hosted a competition on the Touch Arcade forums providing Touch Arcade users with the opportunity of having a ride of their design built into Funpark Friends (with a nice $100 gift card thrown in). The ultimate winner of the competition was HyuJun84 with his out-of-the-box Abduction: The Encounter idea. We loved the big-drop ride similarities and the fact that with our game we could do something that would be impossible in the real world - levitation! To turn a design sketch into an in-game ride takes a bit of effort however, and is very indicative of how games as a whole are made, so I will be posting that process into this thread so that those of you eager to get into gaming, be it on the coding, artistic or design side, will have an idea of what we get up to at the Tagplay video games development studio! Game Design: Here is HyuJun84's design. Here we have the basic ideas that make up the ride. Note that with most game developments the difficulty for the designer is with taking a normal, ordinary concept and making it fantastical so that users can get excited about something that is inherently understood and trustworthy. In this case we have a usual 'big-drop' ride, but packed with the Alien abduction fantasy that brings in the chance for some pseudo realism! Usually a design is then throw into the team so that everyone involved on a project can have their say as to what they like, what they think is cool, what they don't like etc. Art: The artists suck all that info in and begin to sketch away... Here is Martin's, the lead artist on the Funpark project, initial sketches based on HyuJun's design. Thankfully HyuJun liked these sketches enough that we felt we could go onto the mockup stage, but usually ideas are continually batted around as designers and stakeholders want to tweak the concept a bit after getting a better idea of what their ideas will actually 'look' like. However, we did decide that a pseudo-realistic levitation system would be cooler than rails, and given that we are making a game - anything is possible! Besides, we have some escape clauses . Once the sketches have been tweaked around a bit, they are then mocked up into a model from-which assets can be taken that will be inserted 'into' the game. As you can see from this picture, this is a complicated process and is the lengthiest of the tasks in the development process of a ride in Funpark Friends. Certainly, this ride is FARRRRRR from being completed... ... so tune in for Part 2 for the rest of the artistic process, the coding process and the game economy process !
You have quite the hardworking team there moving along very nicely. Can't wait to see the finished product and some levitating action.
Whilst I prepare the blog for the next instalment of HyuJun's ride, does anyone want to give some feedback on which characters they like?
Dude on left is trying too hard Mechanic kid doesn't work for me, he's a kid... If he's some genius with engines he should look more... grown-up. I mean it's ok if he's still a kid, just as long as he looks more mature. No comments either way for the girl. Indiana Jones guy is cool! Same for the Sheriff. As for the last... thing... actually it looks right, even if I don't know what it's supposed to be. xP Edit: Well I know it's a cat, but it's not like any cat I've seen! xD
It's a Cat and will be the mascot for your park ! Thanks for the feedback Echoseven! Anyone else have any thoughts?
the kid with the screw-wrench kinda reminds me of the protagonist of advance wars =D i like him and mr jones... but the cat... hm women should take the cat, men do need something more unfeminie imo
We are through Apple review. Funpark Friends will be live and free from 1st October! hope you like the game and we look forward to your feedback... Here's the Facebook page for Tagplay to send ideas/bug reports etc. Tagplay on Facebook Cheers Paul
