The strategy is who to attack (to get rid of the most dangerous enemies first) and when to attack (or else you'll expose yourself and get hit). There is also which attacks you are going to "equip" and which is the best for the next move (some of them throws the enemies, stun, break their defense and things like that. The game is easy and boring if you are only trying to get to the end of the stage. The real challenge is to get gold medals and perfect combos.
Its equally crappy to put IAP only characters in the icon and first main screenshot and not mention in the app description that those characters aren't included with the purchase. Its the equivalent of selling a game at a store an the box are shows a main character and others on the back of the box which aren't included in the purchase. This wasn't a free game before. Not going to argue with anyone, I jus feel its deceptive advertising.
Nah, just good marketing. I don't think I would have even noticed this app if it didn't have Ryu on the icon. That got my interest as a SF fan. I'm sure having them on there will get more sales than they will lose because of people butthurt that IAP characters are on the icon. BTW, this is a fantastic game! Simple controls and concept that gets used very well to create some really frantic gameplay that manages to be pretty tactical at the same time. And it's free, so really you have nothning to complain about.
If the phrase "butthurt" is somehow more identifiable for you, that's cool. Not having any actual experience with having my butt hurt, I prefer to use "disappointed," but who am I to judge? As for not complaining because it's free? That's sentiment always amuses me, but I would guess it's less amusing for people who actually paid for the game. As for those of us getting a paid game for free, it kind of cuts down on word-of-mouth advertising, gifting, and otherwise encouraging future sales (Fb, Twitter, etc.), and thus kind of defeats the point of having a sale to begin with, but sure, whatever. "I got this propane tank for free and it blew up!" Well, mustn't complain, it was free... Oh, OK, sure. lol DBC
I bought the game at release and the 3.99 Capcom pack but despite their advertising which I really don't agree with (emphasizing the IAP characters), I love this game and I actually found the initial girl the funniest of them all. I still have to play with the others one a lot tho, too many extra toons with too little time, only played more with Gina, Parker and Viewtiful Joe tbh. I find this game has some of the best animations on iOS.
Just my view, but it just feels like I'm tapping and holding, can't get much of a rise of this so far. Seems like one if the old button mashers
Yeah I also get why some players love it and some other are not hooked. One big reason is that we're used to beatem up as being a game where you need to clear a stage, while Combo Crew is more of a scoring game. The challenge really lies in the scoring, and to score, swiping and tapping isn't enough. For those interested: http://thegamebakers.com/combo-crew-tips-from-the-developer.html The game is featured as free app of the week by apple this week, give it a try! The game also evolved a lot since the initial release, there is a ton of new free content (only the Capcom characters are iAP). Have fun.
I REALLY wish you would just switch to Gamecenter. I know you want social promotion, but I'm not inviting random friends, most of whom don't play ios games to join my crew. Nor am I handing out my account to random players.
We don't want special promotion at all, nor do we want your email. We don't use game center simply because it doesn't do the same (we have GC achievements and LB though). You can actually create an account just by typing whatever nickname you want. You'll have your online save, synch between device, online score and so on. Just create an account "with your mail" and instead of typing your mail, type what you want (you don't even need the @, it was just simpler to ensure unique user IDs with asking for their mail than a nickname and a tiresome text field that says "this nickname is already taken"...).
