    We ran a first endless map test with 20000 enemies in 1000 waves and it all worked perfectly!
    This means we now can add a first endless testmap to to the current update in work (2.3) and the update will be out soon!

    Just a little info regarding update 2.3:
    We need some additional days to finish this update because we have found a system memory bug which is using to much memory when levels are played over and over again. When we have found this bug (in update 2.3) we will release the new update.

    UPDATE: We have fixed the memory bug and added some visual improvements and a lot of performance improvements also. And of course more levels to play AND the long awaited endless level which for now is a testlevel to get some feedback for the final version in a later update.
    Oh.... the new update 2.3 should be available someday next week! ;)

    I just have uploaded the new update 2.3 to Apple for review. It should be available very soon!

    Here is the list of info from the new version 2.3:

    We ran a first speedup test but because the complete collision detection is based on real actual events and is not precalculated the speed up is not just a faster game like it would play without the speedup over a longer running time. Instead a fast game gets inaccurate compared to the slow game.
    We keep this on our plate but for now have no "fast" solution.

    Okay, BUT how is it that nearly all other tower defense games have this feature?

    We did not plan this feature for the game because we didn't want the "typical" TD features to keep the game simple and more like the mix of puzzle and TD game we have planned. And our main goal was to design a game with real bullets and real collision detection.
    Regarding other TD games: My guess is most of the TD games calculate bullets at start and then show the animations. This way you can speed up things like you want. In Color Defense we have used physics based parts and even if bullets look like they are are always hitting an enemy the code behind this is based on real movements with real collision checks. You can see this with the rockets. If an enemy is moving fast a rocket can miss the enemy... if it is a millisecond to late. This was what we wanted to create with the game... the not predictable things. With our first versions of the game (before release) we also had bullets missing some targets, but we moved up the speed for bullets, so you can not see this anymore because the check now is accurate BUT this is the tricky part... speeding up the game now will result in the bullets become less accurate in a faster version. It still is possible to integrate but because it was not planned from the beginning AND we have the focus on "real" bullets this makes it a little harder to do. We also are using real particle effects and not so much sprites. The particles are physics based and speeding them up in a "good" way is tricky too.

    We could speed up the game 2x or 4x right away BUT then the result of a fast level will not be exactly like the result of a slow level. So getting back to your question my guess for how other games are doing this is: They either calculate the bullets before they start them OR they don't care about the minimal difference between the different speeds regarding the end results.

    We have this on our todo list but have to look into it a little bit more to get it done right. It is not the only feature we are planning for future updates. The biggest thing on the players wishlist was the endless mode which we now have included as a first test level with random generated endless levels in version 2.3 ... BUT the longer playtime will result in more features we have to look into now... like for example a save option for the new longer levels.

    Things don't get boring here ;)

    IMPORTANT:
    Since December 1 the new update 2.3 has a small bug which is preventing the game to start.

    In case you encounter this problem there is a QUICK FIX:
    Please change your device date to "November" and the game will work in version 2.3!

    We already have uploaded a new version 2.4 which will fix this bug! It is waiting to get approved by Apple.

    Here is what is happening with this bug and why we did not catch it:

    We do a date check in the game and had a typo in the code which checks for "December". So this typo stops the game. All our testing for version 2.3 took place in November, so we missed this bug which now happens since today, because it now is December 1. :p

    So, please tell your friends they can use the QUICK FIX above and should wait for the update 2.4.

    Since a few days you can download version 2.5 of Color Defense in the store. The problem described above is now completely gone.

    We had planned to release a new update on Christmas, but because of a case of illness we have to push it a little bit and unfortunately can not make it for Christmas.

    We hope you will continue playing the game and have exciting new stuff planned for 2019!

    Another new feature for the upcoming update: You now can create and share your own levels for Color Defense.

    If you are interested in BETA testing the new CREATOR mode for Color Defense, please drop me a line!

    We will start the BETA very soon. Some features we are working on will be turned off BUT you have access to the new CREATOR mode which lets you design your own waves and paths for enemies. You can do so, by editing .json files with an editor and via TILED editor and upload them to your webspace where you can download the files from inside the game.

    And if you want you can enter our CONTEST by creating your own level and send us the links to the files. Your level then will get tested and has a chance to be added to the official game where thousands of players can play your level. And in case your level is chosen you win an iTunes card.

    Please note for testing and playing your levels you will need the new iOS BETA version of Color Defense and the Testflight app from Apple. The Color Defense BETA will be available in just a few hours from now.

    This BETA will include cool new features, like for example new weapons. ;)
