I've had problems picking things up too, nice to see there's a fix coming. Also agree about the map, walls should have a border or be in bold. As for the combat.. Yeah it's a bit of a let down, hopefully it'll be patched.
Yeah, just make sure to draw the wall if there is one. I keep going back to squares I've already been to, thinking there's a corridor I haven't entered yet, only to find out it's a dead end.. On the map, it just shows an open square. Also, important locations would be nice to have marked on the map, like the inn, the store, fishing locations, healing/mana stones etc. Or, ideally, give us the opportunity to make short notes on the map ourselves.
What's wrong with the combat? The only thing I would wish for, is damage shown on the monsters... The apparent simplicity of the combat is a stalwart of the genre. I'm not very far into the game yet, but it's obvious that there's a wealth of spells, just waiting to be unlocked when my party levels up.
One thing that confused me a bit.. I've picked up a bow and five arrows. The arrows doesn't show in my inventory, and it seems I have unlimited shots with the bow.. What's up with that?
Exactly, would be nice to see the damage done per hit. Just sometimes I feel I'm attacking as much as I can and no damage is being done I dont want to see the monsters hit points, that would be a spoiler, just be nice to see what I'm doing.
Same here, I tried shooting a rat from a distance but i don't think it does anything, the arrow number didn't go down and I don't think the rat took any damage, maybe i just missed?
Fan of the genre, so didn't hesitate buying 0-day release. While it has potential, seems more like a work in progress. The loot bug, how dig that make it past QA? As others have said, combat feedback is limited. Again, this feels like an early release, just wished I'd waited. No buyers remorse as long as the dev works out the issues.
I found it accidentally when I tried to pinch to zoom. Its so well hidden no wonder people can't pick up things off the floor because they can't look down. That's been the whole issue.
The arrows are shared by the entire party. You can see how many you have left in the Game Status screen. It will also tell you how many remain in the feedback area at the top of the screen every time you finish combat. The shared ammo is different to most games, so I think that might be causing confusion. I just think it makes more sense - if you were in a party of adventurers, wouldn't you all just share an arrow supply - especially if one of you was running out... What's the loot bug that you're referring to? Is that the picking up of items? If so, it's a tricky one. It only seems to happen to some players, on some devices. Fix is on the way though - just waiting for approval of the update. Yes, it's very well hidden in the BIG tutorial screen that comes up the second you start the game
Experienced a crash while trying to pick up the knife or dagger in the room in the inn on the first level. iPad 3, up to date iOS version, yadda, yadda. Double clicked on the weapon while angled downward to look at it and it hard crashed the app that I had to restart it.
Definitely the one thing I hate about software development. Never happened to me in 100's of hours of testing. Didn't happen to any beta testers. Yet, I think you're the second person to report that crash. I'll have to take a look at what that might be, and if it's just something in that particular spot. Out of interest, when you went back did it work?
Yeah, it was totally fine and allowed me to pick t up the second time with no issue and I've had no other issues since (other than those already known like having trouble picking items up). I have no clue what could have caused it...
Okay - thanks. I'll check it out. Maybe something weird crept in on that particular object or something. EDIT: Also, if anyone wants to submit bug reports directly, you can just go to the contact form on my site www.stevejarman.com and fill in the details. Goes directly to my email and saves bumping this thread constantly (not that I mind the attention!).
Question: it seems that the arrows replenish after combat finishes, true? Question: which attribute determines the success rate of arrow hit? And fishing? Observation: it seems that I cannot sell any surplus equipment other than dumping them onto the ground. I think buy-and-sell is core to many RPG, especially where there is a shop installed, would you consider adding selling later? Comment: I think the atmosphere is the most problematic area I find. The Quest is pretty good in this department. May be the dungeon is a bit too bright in most areas... LoG level that is infested with spiders was very chilling at first...
No - but you will see an update on the number of arrows remaining after combat. That might be what you're referring to? All "To Hit" and "Damage Bonus" stats are based on Brawn. Fishing is based on your Fishing Rank (displayed in the Game Status screen). That's correct - you can't sell items and you can only buy basic supplies. A full buy/sell game-wide economy felt much too weighty for a game of this size. Decided it was unnecessary.
So, the PC fires and the arrows will be gone forever? It seems not to be the case here -- I have 29 now and I use them regularly at a distance but the count never seems to go down after the target has been destroyed. Got it. Something to work on for my Shaman... Understandable. Since the class restriction is something different from AD&D, some items can be used by other classes making this not that necessary...
Let me check it. I'd hate to think that's another 11th hour bug that got introduced. I know I've run out of arrows PLENTY of times while play testing.
I report the same thing. If I start combat with 6 arrows, I'll have 6 when the monster dies. In fact, the only time I lost arrows was when trying to shoot the target at the end of the hallway on (I think) location 5. (I was unsuccessful and gave up shooting at it.)
This game reminds me of the first "eye of the beholder"; I think in that game you started in a dungeon and found all your equipment too. All 3 were classics!
bug report: unable to reach 5a, game crashes every time i try. had occasional crashes before as well, but now have tried entering 5a five times with no luck. tried going back using the rod and then return to no avail. playing on iphone 4s. great game other than that! hope to be able to continue play soon. posted pn your website as well.
