50 coins to start - 1 coin for every 30 secs of play...and you can buy more. It's fun -- and it's free.

I think this was used in Big Fish Game's Pirate Plunder that never was released here.

    It's FREE...but not really.

It's free to startup but each play requires a coin and you initially are only given a very finite number of coins. While there MIGHT be ways to earn coins in-game these games are CLEARLY geared to making you pay cash if you want to play more.

Pirates Plunder pulled a real bit of cheese by initially making the earning of additional coins easy enough (a few coins the first time you reach the various achievements), but then unless you win tournaments, you'll soon run out of ways to earn further free coins. To APPEAR not completely scammy they added in a deal where you could earn a free coin each day with the HUGE CAVEAT that these free daily coins don't stack/collect. Leave the game idle for a week or two and you'll only have the ONE extra coin added from whenever you left off last time.

You don't have to buy coins if you don't want to. There is a time delay while you wait for your supply of coins to replenish. No cheese.

Are there ways to EARN extra coins via skillful play?

Do I have to wait IN GAME or if I leave the game and come back and hour later I'll have more coins?

If I have to wait in game for more coins is this when I'm hit with banner ads?

I'm not trying to be completely cynical but Freeverse isn't a charity and I'm wondering how they make money from the folk who DON'T BUY coin packs.

    Hey goiMot,

Was I right about Pirate Plunder or did I paint it too cynically? Pirate Plunder is fun but I just felt like I was being conned without even an option to say, "Here's my $5 for this FREE game, let me now play the game freely indefinitely."

I have to say that I still have Plunder on my ipad, and I have fun when I play it. It's a very nice strategic game. I would easily pay $2.99 or so for a full version without being waiting for new coins every day (I would love to see online leaderboards too).
This one in the other hand is... sorry to the dev: Boring!

No, not iPad but PAID version where I no longer have to hold out for earned coins (or buy more coins)?

I doubt it but would think they could have done something like a couple of different coin pack iaps, and then one higher priced "unlimited coins" option. ;)

Okay, to be honest here, I was skeptical at first. I'm not the most..ehem..skilled Coin Pusher in the world ("another quarter? Really?") but I open this game every day.

It re-generates once you open it to 50 coins every 3 minutes once you open it, so if you have a second, it's fun to push coins. And in a bit, you see you've regenerated (every 30 secs while the app is open, and every minute after you play) up to 50 coins. I like it--risk free play. You can do ads, or games, or what not, or DLC because the prizes are cool, but it comes down to the physics and the satisfying feeling of strategically (I think) placing coins where they will push prize boxes off the edge. If my man is pumping gas and I have a second, I go back to push coins off to get..that...last...prize....

I'm currently on the road, and this has been really fun when waiting for a coffee or in the carwash.

Were you guys involved in Plunder!?

So will the DLCs allow me to have more coins every 3 minutes? I mean do these purchases make a permanent difference or are they only one time effects?

I just have issues with feeling like I'm "leasing" a game. While this is more than reasonable for those who want to not have to pay for the game, I want an option to simply BUY my games.

The Free app allows you to have free coins every 3 minutes the app isn't open. If you buy a DLC pack of 1k coins, for example, you get those 1000 coins and the same reloading cycle (30 secs=1 coin when app is open, 3mins=1 coin when app is closed up to 50 coins).

Okay...so the 50 regenerate (quicker while playing app) and these additional 1,000 are a one time boost?

Which pile are the coins taken from after I've purchased a DLC? I can only hope coins are always drawn from the regenerating pile first and only go to the DLC coins once the regenerating guys are empty (and then back to the regenerating pile as soon as there is as much as a coin back in the pile).

I guess this is a fair compromise but is there any way to WIN extra coins (beyond the basic regeneration) through exceptional play or via some of these cool power-ups?

The game looks alright, but I long for a coin push game just like the ones in the arcades, like the small coins and everything. And the camera option inside and outside of the glass. I especially like the Wheel of Fortune ones where you can get the bonus.
