It's too early to say now, but ideally I'd like to find some way for users to share their creations through a legitimate channel.
yeah i look forward to playing cogs on the ipad. and that would be a huge bonus. it would add so much playability.. can imagine some twisted levels the fine folks of TA can come up with. chris.
Hi Pixelwrangler... ...hats off to you sir, a fine game indeed and now the source of much angst between me and my betrothed... I have a problem, and I've noticed this been stated on a few other forums and websites that review applications. There is an occasional "stutter" at some point during each puzzle, and everything freezes - it wouldn't really be a problem except for the fact that it lasts for a second or two and it makes getting that gold, under-twenty-second, award a little hard to get - sometimes verging on infuriating.. ... I've taken such precautions as rebooting the device - an iPhone 3GS, 32Gb, OS 3.12 - and yet the problem persists. Any news on when a fix will be coming? As much as I love this game, this bug is stopping it from becoming an awesome addition to my library.
You may try logging out of Crystal, as it performs some network operations and the iPhone isn't the best at running a high-performance game while juggling Internet access. It would be great if you can report back if that works for you, either here or by sending mail to rob[at]lazy8studios[dot]com.
I do believe I know what's dragging performance down on larger levels, The lighting appears to be Dynamic, which sucks up far more memory than pre-baked shadows... Another observation I've made is that many people seem to be saying things like: " DLC sux Why do I have to pay for the demo " But that once people buy the DLC they have nothing but praise... Just an observation...
Okay, thanks for the reply I'll PM you later tonight about whether logging out of Crystal works or not in regards to the stuttering. But, still hoping for a more long term solution - perhaps one where Crystal will upload scores during the menu screen and not gameplay? Just a thought...
Aren't they just? I honestly thought I wasn't going to be able to finish at one point! Happy to say that I finally completed everything today, though, earning me 5th. place overall.
Man O Maneschewitz is that cool! I can see fingersize being a slight annoyance, but do ya know how sweet this is gonna be on iPad? Holy guacamole .... OK everyone -- say it with me .... Bring "The Incredible Machine" To iOS !!! lol
Holy, this game had a massive jump in ranks in the past few days. Anyone know what the cause could be?
We got featured. So if you're on your iDevice and you go to App Store -> Featured -> Hot New Games, you'll see Cogs in all three categories. - Rob
I think I just like to get everything at once. I don't like the DLC in the consoles either. Just not a piecemeal person.
The thing I don't like about DLC is that I feel like I never actually own what I've paid for. If I buy a book, a game, whatever, I have it, period. With DLC, I can only access it as long as the seller stays in business and keeps the content available, so it feels like I am renting it rather than owning it. I can always reread a book from years ago, or replay a game I bought years ago but there is no guarantee I can reinstall an old app and still access the DLC. Having said all that, I didn't hesitate in buying the DLC for Cogs! What a great game it is
Don't hate DLC as long as devs don't use it to exploits customers.having said that i am pretty satisfied with the way DLC is implemented in this game.It doesn't force you to spend 5 bucks straight away but lets you try out first and if you like it , you can go ahead and buy the remaining packs. i also think, user generated levels would add a lot of value to this game.
It's not DLC you should care about, it's DRM. Biggest recent pusher of DRM? Apple. Your computer operating system? Not yours, you have a license to use it. Computer programs? Not yours. So don't worry about not owning it because you already don't own stuff.
