If you want me to be honest - it's closer to 200 GB of games I need to complete - but around 90GB of games that I WANT to complete... Damn my little 64 gig devices. =o/ But yeah - quit buying games is the plan
Hey syntheticvoid and folks, We are SUPER appreciative of the early support and encouragement that you guys gave us. Cling is not free forever, we're just trying to capitalize on some work we were doing at the Game Developers Conference. If it looks perma-free, then thats because we set it to free manually on iTunes. We're not throwing in the towel, just trying to work the system a little bit. Probably no surprise, but First5 is just three regular dudes. We're trying to navigate a difficult market with an even harder to explain game. I hope you enjoy the fact that you were some of the first to try and enjoy. We're not forgetting the kindness and support of the forums. f5g
Nothing special. It's freemium now. One out of three million freemium/shareware games. You get 30 levels for free and can buy the next 60 levels (and a level editor). There is a bunch of other IAPs as well…
Same. The premium to freemium change NEVER worked out to be good to me. EVER. Oh well... at least it's a game for a buck. Not a loss really, but still just a tad annoying.
The Devs are pretty decent. At least they seem that way. You might wanna PM em and see if they can do anything for ya since you guys did buy it.
Yes, if you have any problems like this, please contact us either through PM here or via e-mail ([email protected]) and we can fix them. I know not everyone is a fan of moves like this, and we're sorry for the inconvenience.
I didn't read the whole thread but my question is why do the people like me who paid get penalized with this kind of move? Can't a free version that lets you unlock the rest of the game through IAP be made a separate app if the game is originally paid? What about a restore purchases that unlocks the game for anyone who paid and is reinstalling? Emailing the dev to get an issue like this corrected is good and all but is not the right answer to this issue in my opinion.
A restore button only works for purchased iaps; if a new iap is introduced, there is no easy way to take care of the issue. Also, if you're like me and usually DL onto iTunes instead of your device, you aren't left with any good options. I still have yet to install Street Fighter Volt, for example. I completely agree when it comes to having 2 versions. If a dev wants to offer a trial version, don't play with the formula of a paid app, even if it was only a paid app for a short while before going free. Why do you think I never TOFFT? I know it can be a pain maintaining 2 versions...but small developers manage to pull it off. Look at Dungeon Plunder. There is one version unlockable through iaps, as well as the original, paid version. Would it have been easier to screw existing customers who didn't currently have the game installed? Probably. But he knows he has his fans, and I'll buy his next project without hesitation, since he proved he is a "trusted developer". Now, back to this game. In fairness to the devs, they contacted me immediately and unlocked the content through...well, I guess it was Game Center authentication. If you have issues, PM them. While I disagree with the preactice used, they made right by it. The problem still exists, though: I can never delete the game to make room on my device. And, it really becomes a chore trying to keep up with which apps are safe to update and which are not. Which are safe to delete, which aren't. I have 2 full folders on both my iPhone and iPad: one is named "Don't Update", the other, "Don't Delete". A dev also should take into account people who install the way I do; that is, by purchasing on my PC and downloading from the wifi store at a later date. If a game was changed to a different model before I install it, I'll usually never know it existed in any other state. Which will lead me to believe the app was scammy all along. Most devs wouldn't want that kind of review left. Not only that; Apple has been much more gracious in their refund policy lately. Maybe it's just me; they seem a bit shocked when I'm on the phone with them and they see all my reciepts I've been more forceful about getting refunds and have been successful. I don't know if the charge a developr for refunds or if they eat the cost, but it is something to consider.
Missed the warnings and updated... Oh, how my love for the App Store continues to grow. Quickly reaching the point where I'm hesitant to buy ANYTHING. DBC
Hey folks, We've added some major elements to the newest build of the game. We're curious if anyone has tried out the level editor? Any other thoughts?
