You are right. I've converted my population and building production to +1 tapping only. No timers. I've noticed you will still get cats occasionally on a timer but you'll only get one. But if you +1 tap only you get a cat every 50-100th tap or so. Ever since I stopped using the timers I've amassed quite a bit more cats than I had prior. I have a 1000+ cats now. I have no idea what they are there for but I have them...
Is there any way to improve and optimize this app for performance issues, specifically it's battery consumption? I'm on iOS 8.3 and even 8.2 had issues with a brand new iPad Air 2 battery. Thank you for your time!
I bet you're building stuff faster as well. timers for population isn't awful: you end up with 1.5 people per second. But building buildings with timers is super slow, and longer timer runs go slower than shorter ones. 10,000 buildings are delivered in 1 day which comes to 9 seconds per building.
PSA: Possible bug- I finally finished a wonder and accidentally pressed prestige, I then clicked "No" when it asked are you sure and it reset me anyways. Gotta start all over. I'll miss my 150 dragons 30k knight army

Yeah... I was wondering the same thing. That doesn't really make sense. It's not like people eat more food when population grows. Although, I guess someone can make the argument that larger 1st world countries waste more food than smaller 3rd world countries that don't have a lot to go around...

You know what else I think is tied to clicking besides cats? Your level. I noticed the more you click the faster your level increases. I haven't really figured out what the significance of the level is yet, but incase anyone was wondering how to get your level up faster you need to click a lot. What's the point of trades later in the game? The trade amounts seem so insignificant in relation to how much resources I have in reserves and how much I'm earning. It doesn't seem to have any point after a while. I noticed the game keeps track of how many trades you have done. Is there any point to keep track of that?
One other thing for those of you that have finished a wonder... How many workers did you have on it in total? Also, what was your total population at your highest? I just barely reached 1%. It's going to take forever at this point.
Just finished one with 347k population and about 1100 wonder workers constant. Sometimes add a couple extra thousand on it to use up excess resources for a short while. I could have another few hundred constantly on it but I like having a large army (10-15k). This way gets about 20-30% done in a day but it really depends how long you keep the app open for.
I guess I need to start working on building up my population then. I have 25k in my army but only have 75k total. Looks like I'm behind the mark. I don't get how you guys are able to generate people that quick. The game hasn't even been out that long. That's got to be a LOT of playing. And here I thought I was playing too much...
Keep building buildings that hold stock, fill up food to max capacity, create as many people as you can, come back an hour later or when timer is done, assign new workers to rebuild up food/stock, repeat. Then you can add Wonder workers 10 at a time ensuring the counters are all gaining not losing, even if barely. The whole "end game" is just managing workers efficiently to build the wonder faster. Progress on the wonder will go faster and faster. Don't go crazy raiding unless that's a main fun factor for you, are in a competitive guild, or don't mind it slowing you down population wise. I just raided occasionally to keep the Civ "blissful" by having enough land. When you get Knights you won't need an army of 25k. Once I had a sufficient sized knight army, I took away all soldiers and archers. Hope this helps you but a lot of the fun comes from exploring and figuring out the ins and outs yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if in a day or two you found a much more efficient method than mine.
