So, just to be a jerk, I have to ask...is the real reason because you couldn't easily prevent people from cheating by setting the clock ahead on their device? A robust solution probably requires a server back end, etc etc that would be expensive both to develop and to maintain. Amirite?
For me it's a massive downside that stuff doesn't generate while your away, and also probably the reason I'll delete the app soon enough as I just don't have the time or desire to leave the app open and running constantly. It's just a waste of battery life. It's nothing to do with actually playing the game as there's nothing to keep you playing constantly (it's a clicker) I like the app but can't reward this kind of gameplay mechanic by purchasing anything. I've got a couple of other clicker type games, tap Titans and adventure capitalist which I've bought IAP in because I like the fact i can just check in once or twice a day. I'll keep this on my phone for a while in case there's any change to the resources side of things but it won't be played as often as the other games. Just my opinions after a few weeks of playing as I got an early code, I'm upto about 60 Knights and 25 dragons.
I can't imagine what would cause this pre-wonder, but please try removing your Laborers. Wonders use up resources as soon as they are gathered, which can make it appear as though you aren't gaining any. Some people have labeled it a clicker. That doesn't make it a clicker . It has clicker phases and it has idle phases. As we've discussed in the thread previously, if you're at the point where all you're doing is strategic management and you want more action, that's what prestiging is for Nope. We already have server-based time cheat prevention for timers. Again, we don't want it to be about who has had the game longest. We want people to play the game Just a heads up, we won't be able to address every post from here on out. Almost everything coming up lately has been discussed at some point previously in the thread. We'll keep popping in occasionally as always, but please use our support page if you need to get in touch about any technical issues
I'm convinced, and thanks for the quick reply. Now I have to go buy some more gold because you guys are so awesome...
Just registered on Touch Arcade forums to give feedback as I saw the Community Managers and devs are reading this. For what it's worth, I have figured out most of the equations/probabilities and transfer rates of the game. Like most players, I can farm skulls and eat dragons for breakfast. I have built a reasonably large civ and building wonders is just a matter of leaving the screensaver off for hours. Nothing exceptional, really, but probably enough to give some reasonable feedback (especially about why I have not bought any IAP so far). 1/ What I enjoy and encouraged me to keep playing again and again * The early click phase, it's a cookie-clicker with background * Setting-up resource balance and meeting barriers (e.g. healers, land) * Farming a bit of land and resources in the first raids * Ramping-up numbers (more storage, more resources, more people) * The first research levels where you wait for a couple of hours max and see a change * Finding the balance to build a wonder (i.e. how many people on each slot to build steadily without draining resources) * The merchant trading a few gold coins for in-game resources (modest but very nice gesture) * The ability to reset and start over with extras from previous games * The cats... obviously (damn it, I need more !) 2/ What I find increasingly annoying and keeps me from purchasing IAP * After a couple of hours, clicking becomes useless because your basic income and timers largely outweight clicking (repeated 10k clicks is a no-no for me), so the only decent game play left is timer and raids. * The combat system is dull: pick a difficulty, see how many opponent soldiers you face on average, and bring 10x or more to minimize your losses (rebuild troops and repeat). For the records, you minimize your losses, by one-shotting the opponent army (including dragons) in a single round (more rounds = more losses for you). * The best strategy involves leaving the game open with screensaver off for hours/days to collect resources or to build a wonder (seriously, this is *very* annoying). * The timers are not balanced (research skyrockets from acceptable numbers to silly values). Moreover, research is too linear and neither challenging nor exciting: it's just activate everything and wait for timers. * Most of the jobs and resources are completely useless. Approx 95-99% is allocated on food and soldiers when I am playing, and the rest is barely used even when I am away in wonder-building-mode. * The only IAP I can spend money on are timer shortcuts. This is NOT something I will buy. This kind of IAP is basically paying to NOT play. I will only buy something if it MORE gameplay (not less). 3/ Some features that would be incentive to buy IAP * Multipliers: buy default, clicks should give a fraction of your base production. If you produce zero, one click means one resource. If you produce 30k/s, one click should yield 10-30k/s instead. The same stands for population increase (+1 at the beginning, then +10 or +100 after a certain civ threshold). In that context, I would gladly buy an IAP to increase the multiplier (e.g. if default is +1, the IAP gives +10 instead). * Keep resources flowing even when the game is off... but NOT endlessly. Put a cap on *all* resources (not just food/wood) and add more buildings to increase the cap. More importantly, you can reduce the speed of resource collection while offline (e.g. 50% or even 10% of normal speed). In that context, I would gladly pay an IAP that increase the cap, and another that speeds-up up the resource collection while offline. * More depth to the research feature (trees, exclusive choices...) and the ability to shorten the research time with click-game or challenging gameplay (e.g. challenge raids that are not trivial). * More depth to the combat system (more units, combat stances, unit synergies). It could be a great opportunity to make healers and priest useful again. The current system encourages to hoard huge numbers and to repeatedly burn those huge numbers to steamroll very weak opponents. With the current system, the combat cap is not skill but the ability to regenerate dead soldiers. Allow healers or priest to resurrect fallen soldiers, and use clicks as a multiplier (instead of 1 resurect / second, a click would give x2, x3, x10). Fewer combats, a little more strategy (or more clicks). Also diversity in units (rock/scissor) and combat mini-click-games would really help make combat more exciting and skulls/prize feel like an accomplishment and not a mindless farm. * I would gladly pay for anything that add gameplay depth (i.e. less mindnumbing grind, more strategy), or anything that would make my time and clicks more rewarding and fun. To be short, an IAP should make me play MORE (be more active, more thinking, more clicks), and not less (timer shortcut). Thanks for this game. Really worthy of the advertisement it got. Keep up the good work. KT
Hi KarmicTickle, thanks for all the great feedback. We will consider all of this. Resource tapping as a percentage of your population is especially intriguing! Well thanks
Losing armies You explained earlier why your entire army gets wiped out if you leave the app while in a battle. However, while hitting the rally button during the battle, it is really easy to accidentally go to the clan tab and then hit one of the share buttons, taking you out of the app. Can one of these buttons be moved somewhere else so that this doesn't happen? I've done it a few times now and it's really aggravating.
Okay.... So I decided to move up to the next raid level to a county. I wish I could go back... I don't have dragons yet and I don't even have the ability to make dragons yet. The first guy I fought had 5 dragons. Luckily I had enough in my army to not get completely wiped out but it was close. Then I spent 45 minutes taping to build my 8,000 troops back up. I decided to take my chances again in another raid and got matched with another guy that had 5 dragons. He wiped all but about 1,000 of my soldiers... I don't feel like clicking for another 45-60 minutes and I also don't feel like waiting for the 1k timer that takes forever. This is right after I spent about $6 on IAP because I was enjoying the game so much. Now I'm kind of frustrated and wish I didn't actually purchase the IAP. So why can't I go back a raid level? If I just keep getting wiped out every time I try to raid then what's the point? I kind of understand how the matchmaking is setup but it's no fun when I'm getting matched against someone that has something I don't even have access to yet.
The update will make it so the app doesn't quit in the background when you exit, allowing you to return to the game quickly and continue with the raid. It can't get approved quickly enough! Also, we wanted to run something by everyone. For all of those who wish there was more to do in the end-game phase than raiding repeatedly...have you prestiged? If not, why? We have a couple different ideas, and we want to hear your feedback before we choose a direction.
For me I did not start raiding before my army is strong enough. I build up my kingdom to a certain scale that I can have more probability of winning. I also did notice researching defend and shield boost my unit capability. Before the upgrade, my army will get wipe out when there is a dragon in my opponent army.
Well, I went from one level of raids with 7k troops total. 4k soldiers, 2k archers and 1k Knights. I was getting matched against people that had no more than 1k troops. I was wiping everyone out. So I figured it was time to upgrade to the next level. That's when I started seeing a bunch of dragons. How do you go from one level with not a single sight of any dragons and then go one level up and see dragons immediately? So whatever... I got a little ahead of myself with the raids I guess... But now I'm stuck only being able to attack counties or higher. Now I can't raid anymore until something in my game progresses to the point where I can make dragons. So no more skulls or trophies for my clan until I can catch up and get some dragons. I just wish I can go back. If I knew that I'd start seeing dragons I would have waited.
same thing happened to me. but to solve your problem you dont need dragons. just alot of soldiers. probably 10-15k soldiers would be enough. before i use 12k soldiers to fight 10 dragons and i usually lose 1-3k soldiers. sometimes a few hundreds if i get lucky.
this game is really fun. i do enjoy it but i kinda dislike the clan thing. most of the good clans are full and even if you participate in rading all you get are th 20% bonus to production. how i wish there would be rewards like 1 gold per member for top 100%, 2 gold for top 50% and so on. it doesnt need to be that good. but a little is still better than nothing because right now if your not in top 3 clan then your nothing. also it might be a good idea if we could put requirements for our clan like 500 trophies to join. how about putting a world chat? maybe everyone gets 5 or 10 free chats per day and you can buy extra chats for gold. this way world chat would not be full of non sense. this would also add to the "something to do" if not raiding ir waiting for your resources/timer.
We're toying with the idea of giving gold to more clans. Official announcement may be coming soon . We've discussed world chat earlier in the thread (bit worried about moderation). Clan privacy settings coming in the next update, which will let you filter out new users better.
thanks for the quick responce and hope this gets even better. cant wait for te update. got a question about cats. do they have a purpose now and we just need to figure their secret purpose or their purpose will be revealed on the update?
I was able to win against opponents with 5 dragons more than once just by having 3k soldiers, 3k archers and 3k knights myself. A dragon is powerful but useless against a very large amount of enemies. But I just encountered an enemy who had 26 dragons. Needless to say that my army got wiped out in an blink of an eye. Shit happens! #
hi. i'm actually really new into the clash of clans/game of war/civcrafter. is this the same type of game as clash of clans? i wanted to get into one game to invest in heavily that will have a big user base. thanks!
