Hello there! TLDR: We made a game, people seem to enjoy it, you might too! My name is Ryan, and I and my partner Jon have been working on City Quest for several years now. In 2013 we ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, and we finally shipped for Steam last August. Since we first started showing this game at local meetups, we were showing on iPhone, so we've had this release in mind since the beginning. We feel that this is an exceptional experience on mobile, and we hope you will too! City Quest is a Sierra and LucasArts inspired Point and Click Adventure about a small-town farmer boy that comes to the big city to make something of himself. Shenanigans and death ensue. Any impressions on if the action buttons are hard to press? They kinda look it from the screenshots. Also is there a lot of pixel hunting or (on the other extreme) highlighted hot spots? Nohr Member Oct 22, 2015 18 0 0 #3 Nohr, Feb 18, 2016 We've always found that the mobile version feels pretty good to play, and many times the go to choice for us. I suppose it really depends on how you like to hold your device, but we've never seen much of a problem with the action buttons. Most interactions are the same as any other object in the scene, we don't generally draw attention to quest items and whatnot. Pretty much everything in the game world can be interacted with, so there's not usually anything too special about any given object. I'm not quite sure if that answers your question or not. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #4 metalcasket, Feb 18, 2016 Last edited: Feb 18, 2016 The controls are perfect. Nohr, I gotta ask...is the game supposed to be around 500 MBs installed? Obviously I've just started, so I don't know what the game holds within its walls, but I was under the assumption that size was due to being a...*pulls out copy of LSL 6*...talkie...but it isn't. Love it. Nohr Member Oct 22, 2015 18 0 0 #12 Nohr, Feb 19, 2016 Yeah I dig theirs too. If I recall, they ran their first Kickstarter shortly after ours (I think we might have given them a shoutout too). And they've managed two more games since haha. We're a bit slower Nohr Member Oct 22, 2015 18 0 0 #13 Nohr, Feb 19, 2016 I'm so glad you enjoy it!! I believe I found the cause of a lot of the space there and I'm hoping to have that fixed (as well as make it available on lower iOS versions) soon. Apple's review process takes awhile though, so it might be a little bit yet. Both of these were unfortunate oversights in the rush to make sure it was ready to ship in time. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #14 metalcasket, Feb 19, 2016 Take all the time you need (even though Apple should just hurry up with approval). I don't think City Quest is going anywhere. I don't mean to sound like a broken record and keep bringing up the same thing, but do you have a rough estimate of how much smaller this could get? Just curious. cnewhall Member Jun 11, 2012 21 0 0 #15 cnewhall, Feb 19, 2016 This game is fantastic, people! I can't believe it's not getting more attention on here. mj132 Well-Known Member Oct 2, 2013 354 5 18 United Kingdom #16 mj132, Feb 19, 2016 Looks interesting might take the plunge on this one as I like point and click games, it's already been an expensive week and 2016!! orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 1,997 145 63 #17 orangecan, Feb 19, 2016 Just taken the plunge, this looks and sounds ace. Nohr Member Oct 22, 2015 18 0 0 #19 Nohr, Feb 21, 2016 No definite numbers, since I haven't seen install size yet, but I think it should drop a few hundred megs. Hope this isn't a faux pas (I haven't spent a ton of time in the forums as evidenced by my newbie rank), but if you folks enjoy the game, we hope you'd consider rating is, it's very important early on and gets eyes on us. We were very fortunate to get a pretty big feature, but ratings are important early on. Ok, enough begging, we're so glad you folks are enjoying it! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
