I thought it was submitted on the 21st? (click the arrow, the title of the post says "Game submitted - final trailer" Either way, looks great
LordGek - haha, scripted wangdoodle. Dude, where do you come up with this sh1t : ) Haephestos, LeD, Seonr and all else - thx! The game was officially submitted and pulled. We had to make some last minute changes to the Basic controller and Easy mode plus a few more cool things were added back in from the original spec. It just made more sense to fix it and resubmit rather than have to update it later once the whining begins. Damn internet... now everyone's a critic ; ) Off to play the Space Invader Extreme demo - I just read that it has a "visualizer" background. Intrigued, but not ready to hand over $10 just yet or whatever it equals in M$ points.
@se7en I'm very interested to see what changes you've put in there! I'm ready to blow up some leaderboards! Speaking if which where is player57?
Shay, it's Jeff from AppGamer. I'm right behind you mate http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/1958/csonescr5.jpg Well, I know my score is half of yours, but hey, I'm pretty proud of my feat
Ha!! Shay's all talk, my score still stands I've really been improving my game, but some how not my score
As the game is almost out could one of you please explain the flow of play? It starts off simple enough, shooting a few random baddies, nothing confusing there, but then there is all of this strangeness with the big circle, a red turret, and flying through walls. What is it the player has to do? What is that 30 second timer all about? What the heck is going on there?
Hey se7en - congrats on submitting! Let's hope it gets put in the approval 'express' lane... can't wait to play!
Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting an explanation for that video as well. Looked cool as all get out, but I had not idea what was goin' on.
lol. You'd probably have no idea until you actually get your head in the game for a good 5-10 minutes until you start to get used to everything. When I first played it, I was basically thrown out there after the tutorial. It was like a "what am I supposed to do?" moment at first, but it's pretty simple (in concept) actually. Your objective is to basically destroy the big red outposts in order for you to destroy the big crystal thing in the centre. Sounds easy, but everyone and everything seems to have it for you. Dodge and weave your way through the enemies until you destroy the last of the red/ruby looking outposts. Once done, a timer will start (30seconds) counting down, if you fail to take down the big crystal thing at the centre, you lose. This is probably the most intense aspect of the game, as you have to have a certain time to complete it in. Usually, it'll result in carelessness and negligence, and you'd probably get killed if you aren't careful enough. Hope that gives you a slight idea of what we're supposed to do..
Actually yes, but what is with the wall warping then? Is that going to a whole nother core or just warping to another part of that same initial area (like some sort of wrap-around effect)?
Wrap-around effect basically, exit through the right side and you come in through the left. But the effect looks awesome, as the colour scheme of the playing field changes to a sometimes more-sexy look as you warp
Understanding this the videos are much easier to follow. Like, in the video, it wasn't that clear WHAT our hero was shooting at during the countdown or why these countdowns always seemed to occur after blowing up a red turret. Lastly I really didn't quite follow the wall hack. "So he flew off and here is yet another one of those shielded cores? How many are there on this level and how the heck would you know once you got them all!?"
There's only 1 core as far as I know, but that's because I've only reached the 5th level (top player on leaderboards went up to the 7th level). When you warp, I guess it's just a way of evading the enemies. You don't get another set of cores for you to destroy. That's what I thought at first too, but it's just you "teleporting" to the other side of the field. Don't worry, you'll definitely get the hang of it once you play.
