Hey Se7en! Are these level and enemy placement totally pre-scripted or randomized like Geometry Wars?
Thanks TA'ers - its getting very close finally! And I seriously need some R&R. LordGek - yep, enemy spawning is partially random and partial based on a number of other factors like level, difficulty setting, time that you have been alive, etc. There are a few special enemy waves right now and I will be adding a lot more enemy types and special waves through updates after release. Also, some enemies are triggered based on gameplay scenarios. For anyone curious the music follows a very similar algorithm and it really does add that 4th dimension : ) I wish I could have had a lot more diversity in the tracks but I would have to give up the dynamic time warping gameplay right now. We plan on doing a lot more music in updates as well. I can't give any details but hopefully we will have something solid to announce soon. See you in the arena!
Same Here The Art Style and Dynamic Audio make me so happy, and I love twin stick shooters. It's like someone made a game just for me that has all the things I want in a game I can't wait for the release!
This sounds very cool! When I speak of random I always mean with parameters, of course, but I have issues with completely pre-scripted stuff like, "On first level initial spawn point there will be two buzzers left of player and a wangdoodle in front of them." The fact that the first level will have many buzzers, and ot a lesser degree, wangdoodles, is more than appropriate for such a game, just not strict scripting of said placement.
I too find it disheartening to have the game script me being surrounded by wangdoodles --- But seriously, I'm glad to here there are certain parameters that effect the enemies. I like knowing that each game will be at least partially different
Hey just so you know it's not a twin stick shooter. It's more like asteroids control scheme, you can only shoot in front of your ship. So you have to use your ships inertia while turning and shooting tailing enemies. @se7en- That R&R is well deserved my friend
oh I knew that, I just really didn't know what you called this genre of game. I just figured that would get what I meant. Finesse shooter? Does that make more sense? The part I like is that the control of the ship is a huge part of the game. It needs to be handled tactfully
