- It's $1 - Play with the basic controls first, don't dive into advanced right away. - Reviews aren't conflicting, just takes time to control the ship - Took me around 20 minutes to finally get some good scores going - No ship customization, might be in updates - The objective of the game won't require you to customize just yet, it's compelling enough as it is (IMO) - The game is difficult - High production values - Awesome music and graphics - Gameplay not as deep as Isotope, but gameplay is objective-incentive-based. Hope that helps.
Ship customization might throw off the High Score table scores. Thats what I think. Even if the scores are all purged, there might be issues of balance.
True, part of the fun lies in the online leaderboards to see who is actually truly "skilled" in the game. Anyone mind telling me who's in the top 10 at the moment? Am I kicked out yet?
I really hope there isn't ship customization, but if there was any I would hope only something like color, shape etc very basic and nothing that can change the gameplay. Online versus/deathmatch is what pops up into my mind when every I play this game it's like begging for it, but maybe thats just me. @Bat Outta Hell So how do you like the game so far?
Shay, despite the many quality games on the market right now, this one is simply the best damn game to creep out of the App Store. I've spent a good amount of money on games and apps, but CS one will have a permenant spot on my iPhone. Now just so you top 8 players know, I'm gunning for you.
I'm enjoying it so far, even though I'm terrible =P The font is a bit hard to read as others have said, but fits the game so... I think I beat the first level by luck =P I'm so disoriented by going through walls and with it changing color, is it a different area, or what?
Not just you, Shay has mentioned the possibility of multiplayer before. Damn this thread, I really need to get going for the exam. Wish me luck guys and I'll see you on the leaderboards (or this thread again after the exam, lol) Same arena, you've just warped to the other side of it in a stylish manner. haha.
Lol jFND on the forums and you have an exam tsk tsk. What are some of the scores right now? I don't have wi-fi where am at so can't look on the leader boards. My highest is only 65 thousand, made it to lvl 3 and have 7 achievements unlocked.
Deathmatches would be awesome if it included a health bar so the spray and prayers can't just circle around and wait for you. A limited amount of enemies that can take away from your life and keep the match moving would be ideal. Plus the chaos of dealing with whatever the system throws at you plus a human chasing after you would be spectacular.
At the moment it looks like i'm 2nd place in the online leaderboards with a score of 1814480. And i'm still going to bitch and moan about the lack of accuracy in the controls. Shooting when i'm supposed to be boosting and boosting when i'm supposed to be shooting. Make that .exe button bigger please! It's good fun when you learn the scoring system behind it. Milk those terminals!
REVIEW Wow, this game totally surprised me. I've seen the pre-release videos and everything, but never did I expect something like this. Gameplay for this game is astounding, and for you people who are worried about the controls, they're perfectly fine. They work great surprisingly, although the ship drifting after acceleration can get a little irritating, but not enough to ruin the gameplay. Ok so it goes something like this, you're a little ship hacking the network, and you have to shoot these red buttons found across the playing to access the core, then you can shoot the core until it explodes, therefore, beating the level. Sounds easy right? By level 3, it gets pretty hectic with all these shapes coming at you with lasers and red buttons appearing out of no where, making you lose a life/die. It's really fun, and controls shouldn't be a problem. Graphics... what can I say. One of the best designed games I have ever seen (for the iPhone), and the menu is just amazingly designed. Whatever way you tilt, that's the way your menu will go also, which is hard to explain, but cool nonetheless. The retro/2.5D graphics in this game are absolutely gorgeous and totally blew my mind away. The colors, soundtrack, everything was beautifully done, and imo, this game has one of the best graphics on this device. Length of the game is no problem at all. There are a lot of achievements for you to achieve, and plus, it's more of a "beat your highscore" type of game. There are global highscores which is a huge plus since you know who has a better score than you. The highscores are also very easy to access, showing you the number one score and the score you need to beat to move up in rank. Again, it's very nicely designed so you can see everything quite clearly. Replayability also shouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure about you other people, but I really want to try and be as high in the global highscores as possible. Not very good at this game, but still around #50 right now. I want to keep going back to this game, and that's a huge plus to any game. This game is wonderful, design-wise and gameplay-wise, but there are a few things that I think should be changed. The dev is active here, so I don't think these issues will be a problem after an update or two, but here it goes. For the "double tap to continue" or whatever it says, please make it a little brighter so people can actually see it. I had a hard time reading what it said and barely noticed it when I first started the game. Another problem is the lag. Although for me it is almost nonexistent, there is still some lag in the beginning and end of the levels. Don't get me wrong, it's before you start playing and after the level is finished, but still, it is a little irritating. It also stutters, and the soundtrack replays what it says while the ship stops moving. This is a huge problem that I'm surprised the beta testers didn't catch. Overall, this is a WONDERFUL/BEAUTIFUL game, and I can't recommend it enough. For 0.99, this is an absolute steal and should be bought by everyone with an iPod/iPhone. I don't care if you're a casual gamer or a hardcore gamer, kid or adult, this is a game that is wonderful in almost every area. Yeah yeah, you people have heard it lags and whatnot, fiddlesticks. It doesn't lag during the gameplay, and for 0.99, you can't say much. Must have for anyone and everyone, highly recommended game. Gameplay: 5/5 Graphics: 5/5 Length: 5/5 Replayability: 5/5 Menu Designs: 5/5 OVERALL: 5/5 BOTTOM LINE: This is a wonderful game, beautiful graphics, 0.99. It's the price of a bottle of water, and for Pete's sake, this is worth WAYYYYY more than a bottle of water. I can clearly see this game took a very long time to make and shows the skill of this indie developer. Status for this game: must have.
Haha, that's hilarious. Le'Douche will be happy to know he has competition. Factions in the online leaderboards
Go to Achievements and you will see a button that says "h.grenade online" It opens safari Then you can type in a password to protect your account (the site already knows who you are) The you will see a bunch of factions which are teams Freelancers is everyone playing online that has NOT joined a group The 6(?) others are teams that you can join However once you are join that's it. No going back. Legions of Doom is one of the groups available to join
I bought it and stucked with control what's wrong with it? I was thinking that it will be like in Nano Fighter and Isotope I cannot pass even first level
I'm not sure I'm a fan of your review. It's more like a "what I think about it" write-up. You gave a rather generous score as well... 5/5? You're basically saying this is game is the best of the best and for everyone. I personally disagree with the length, in comparison to other titles in the genre, I don't think it's fair to give it 5/5. I don't own the game, but from what I've read, it's a high-score type of game.
