It's one of the advanced controls options. Are there advantages to using the advanced controls, besides the bullet time button?
I'm pretty sure aim damping is on advanced controls. Im pretty sure it has to do with how fast your ship turns while firing. On advanced controls only, the ship turns considerably slower when holding the fire button, supposedly in order to make more accurate shots. I think turning up damping means the ship slows down more. I don't use advanced controls so I'm not 100% sure how accurate my statement was. The styles are very different. Basic is a lot easier for me because I like the the ship turns with my finger, but some people prefer advanced, some feel they have more control. You can experiment for your own preference, but I think basic is your best bet.
yeah I use basic. feels more natural, the only bonus as far as I'm concerned is a button for bullet time. ledeuche, you sneak... I've been trying to reduce using my bullet time....but man, it's tough. who has god mode? anyone?
I'm getting better at saving bullet time too. It's nice to see 20 seconds left on level six. But not using it at all? That's crazy. The only reason I beat hardcore was because I had saved enough bullet time that I could activate it , take out the last generator, sneak inside the crazy spinny things and destroy the core without losing my last life. That's my strategy for elite, use saved bullet time to pass the spinny thing. No God achievement for me yet, although I am VERY close sometimes. I need to take a break, it seems like my first game back from an hour break is my best , probably cause my senses aren't fried from the awesomness!
I don't see how not using bullet time is possible on level 6. it certainly doent seem possible to thrust away from the red guys they come so fast... unless yourejust flying at rather high speeds at all times
Oh I can't imagine no bullet time on 6 either. I get there with a lot of bullet time because I don't use it early on, but it drains super fast from then on. It's sad when you drain all your bullet time on one level :-( And I don't have as many problems with the red guys. It's the orange ones that seem to get me all the time, they seem the fastest to me. I've found that a moderate high speed at all times is a good strategy..that way you fly by the swarm of enemies, they all gather behind you, and you can get em all in a couple easy shots. The only bad thing about flying fast is when they spawn in front of you and.... You know.... It's tough to find a balance of fast and slow.
I swear I don't use it... Even on elite. Once I get hit with a tracer a boost either hard left or right as I turn 180 and blast em. The real trick is just to never stop moving. Master the strafe and learn complete control of your ship. I can even out run the purple swarms on elite that seemingly come out of nowhere. I just boost towards the edge of the arena and wait near the walls. That way they can only come from one side. The sweeper bars at the end of the level are just a timing issue really. I get way more joy out of killing everything. Great job though guys. Great to see such a strong community for an iPod game.
Here's a thought: (random) on the new leaderboards way in the future, since there will be different ships for each control scheme, could a picture of the ship that the player used be put next to his score? That way we would be able to know who did what and how they achieved thier success. And, if we pwn all the twin stick users, they'll see that and end up trying to learn the regular control scheme! If twin stick users pwn us (which we can't let happen), then we'll still be able to see how the good ol school players are doing. It's a win win! This seems like an alright idea to me, but then again, I'm uber tired and things that shouldn't make sense make sense to me right now...what do you guys think?
here's a new one... the ticking purple blockades that pop up when your countdown continues. twice now those have been there right at the beginning of the level for me..
That happens to me as well sometimes. I never really knew if it was intentionally put in there or not. I've never had it happen right when I boot the game up though.
Nice idea! +1 from my side. Plus: the dual stick players should be forced to listen to some elevator music and their framerate should run on 10fps then I would be veeeery satisfied
for those who have yet to check, the game is now a 3 over at Slide To Play. Not allowed to link to the review due to the rules at this forum, but you can head over to our site and check it out.
Already saw it. Thanks To me, the game is running better now but the highscore system and some other game changes are a bit of a letdown to me. So overall, I would give the same rating as before - 5/5
Ranked 9th online, with a score of 55,048,170; and yet, still playing as Freelance. Which faction wants me?
Join the cult of the dead cow! cDc has destroyed almost as many networks as black.opz, but we have less than 1/5 the members! Once the xp system is fixed we'll actually be a faction that can put up a fight against redcell, the current powerhouse!
sorry for being noob, but how does this faction thing work? I can't see anything like that in the game.
