Have you vote? ONE LAST DAY to make CHRONO TRIGGER becomes this week's Touch Arcade Game of the Week. [thread=115735]VOTE HERE[/thread]
Anyone here got insane at the Death Peak? The controls made it hard to do the whole hiding behind the tree thing.
Wait Mode IS Broken Agreed - there is currently NO difference when Wait mode is selected. The game proceeds in Active mode regardless. Definitely a bug (and annoying, as I'm fond of the more deliberate wait mode).
This is not a bug, and has already been clarified in this thread. Wait mode pauses the battle when you're in combat menus, and Active mode doesn't. It's not giving you a choice between real-time and turn-based combat.
Where is the save?????? I quitter and when I came back they say start a new game And setting has no save game... Where the hell is the save game??
While in the world map, or on a save point, scroll down the menu. The last option should be the option to save.
Nice review Gunlock! But I think you're kidding yourself on the first paragraph there, I think you DO know why they did what they did and you know they'll keep on doing it. Why polish (/bother) and why not charge premium price if people like us (I'm 30, so we're from the same epoch [pun intended]) would still buy their crappy ports.
Positively going insane here, getting blown off time after time because of the stupid run/walk controls... edit: Spoiler Yes I'm supposed to go there I'm in the right part of the game with the pyozo dolls and all...
Hey rivozzz. Check my video out around 3:38 it'll show you the save button it kinda hidden, which I think they really need to change. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pXQ1CWDCSE
Thank you Yes, of course I know what you mean. Its really sad actually. Every single port of a classic game they make is like this, not bad but really could be much better. And every time Im hovering over the buy button knowing that I will eventually buy it anyway :/ And the situation got even worse the day Sonic CD came out a couple of days ago, which was an insta-buy for me. When I saw the quality of this game, the super smooth animations, brilliant colors, great quality of music etc. I was astonished and quite pissed at the same time. Astonished because ONE talented guy (BIG respect for Christian Whitehead here) proved that a proper, polished port tailored for iOS is possible. Pissed because I asked myself what the hell is Square Enix doing with all the money they earn? Anyway I think there is a small light in the tunnel, because the last FFT update made the game much better, and future updates are also confirmed so maybe there will be some kind of optimistic breeze of love aimed at their iOS collection... (yeah, right... ).
Well, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Looking at the last update to FFT, I reckon they deserve it. Besides, if the rumor about the iPad version being in the works turns out to be true, I'd say well-done. But let's slag them off a bit more for what they've done to CT! It's only fair
I can't decide between this and the DS version. It has a good story right? I love games with a deep story.
I would agree. But make sure that it's on a platform that you actually play -- it won't be a better experience if you never actually carry your DS around.
They're funneling future funds into more ports...look at their resume since they've become SE instead of just Square...FF1 and 2 have been ported 7 or 8 times (literally, PSX, GBA, PSP, iOS, PS3 virtual console, Wii virtual console, and a couple more i think) and they havent even been great ports, they're slightly better than the originals. Nothing like the FF3 port quality wise....they dont do that. They're really just concerned with putting out lack luster, effortless ports because we buy them.
I'd say play the DS version. I finished both the Iphone and DS version and it's annoying trying to quickly pick Tech attacks in boss fights, compared to the DS version with it's controller. Also the cut scenes from the DS and PS1 version are missing in this game. I was disappointed not to see Frog's cut scene when got the Masamune. I think SE ported the SNES version to the Iphone and not the PS1 version. Edit: The game has one of the best stories of any JRPG of all time. There's at least 10 plus endings in the game, so you could unlock all of them at your leisure time. I consider this game my Top 5 RPG's (JRPG and WRPG) games of all time.
It is the PS1 version, since it includes all the extra content and the improved translation. They just didn't include the animated cut scenes (which, frankly, always felt tacked on).
Exactly, this is just the PSX version minus the cutscenes which as squarezero said were just added to make people happy. I'd rather have a much smaller file size than the animated scenes which I wasn't a huge fan of anyway, probably because I grew up playing the SNES version over and over again so it wasn't something I really cared about.
