To be honest, when I first saw the game, I didnt really like it because of all the jarring colors. I had to see the video to see it in action before I grew to like it You may want to make a better image for the first page of your App Description. Some kind of splash screen or something.
Thanks for taking the time to give me this feedback. I think you're absolutely right - I'm just not sure which screenshot would work better (maybe I'm a bit too close to it). I deliberately avoided using the splash/menu screen as I figured it didn't show anything useful but maybe it would be more visually appealing? Do either of these appeal more? Otherwise, all suggestions are welcome! There does seem to be a theme developing that people who download/play the game, love it, but some are still put off from trying it. Hopefully I can tweak the marketing materials to show it in its true light (no pun intended )
I like the first screen actually. Its more balanced. Notice how the second screen is all white and bright colors. Anyway, aside from splash screens, what i mean is to have a screen for the App description that can actually represent your game better. Right now, if I have no idea what Chromixa is about and I see the images, all I see is a bunch of brightly colored shapes. Maybe putting a youtube video link in the app description may help.
Thanks, I understand. Given that the App Store screenshots have to be images from the game, maybe I can add an annotated screenshot to the in-game tutorial and display that on the App Store for the next version. I'll also add the YouTube link to the description (shame they're not clickable in iTunes). The price you pay for having a simple minimal UI!
You can make one of those shortened urls for the video instead of writing out the raw youtube video url
First major update Hi all, I'm already working on the next update to Chromixa and I'd love to hear your feedback/suggestions. I'm keen to prioritise things that you, the gamers, want. To start, here's what I have in mind. Let me know your thoughts on these: Global leaderboards for puzzle scoring and mini games, acheivements - I'm leaning towards OpenFeint but will consider alternatives if people prefer? More puzzles - is there a particular level of difficulty you've enjoyed playing the most? More mini games - which of the current 3 do you like the best? Any suggestions for others? Hint system - would you use this or do you think it would lessen the challenge/appeal? Or, indeed, any other thoughts you have... Cheers, Simon.
-I like OpenFeint -I would like to see more medium level puzzles -The first mini game was the best (in my opinion) -I don't think a hint system would take away from the game, as long as it is an option the player can choose to use or not.
Great game, love the music. It's strangely relaxing and hypnotic. Don't care about leaderboards - my Touch wouldn't know what a wifi connection was if it was if I placed it on top of the router Any more puzzles would be appreciated. I'm currently working through the difficult set at the moment, but they're not going to last forever. I love the bouncing and racing mini games. The sliding strips game doesn't do anything for me, and once you get past the first few levels, it feels too random to be enjoyable. The bouncing game is crying out for some different irregular shapes, for example a diamond shape instead of a normal pentagon (with two short sides). The racing game is almost perfect as-is, but a level skip would be nice. I can get through 1 lap 95% of the time (barring random slip or loss of concentration), and can get through lap 2 enough times to make me want to start on lap 3 without having to repeat everything again when I fail - it's not like the score changes per lap, so the only thing the game is losing is the chance of failing early. You could make it a easy / medium / hard mode which you unlock once you get past lap 1, 2, 3, etc? Not fussed about hints. I've managed fine without them so far, I'd like to hope I wouldn't be temtped to rely on them if they get added
Thanks for your feedback! I've made a note of your points and will definitely incorporate them into the next major update (January).
My pleasure! And at least one person in Apple seems to like Chromixa as it's just appeared in the Games "What's Hot" list
New update is out! -22 new puzzles -New "Time Challenge" minigame -Added OpenFeint for leaderboards and achievements Looks great! Updating now. This is still my favorite puzzle game!
Wow, that was quick, I only submitted the update yesterday! As you've spotted, the major changes are: * 22 new puzzles * a new "Time Challenge" mini game * A revised arrangement of puzzles/levels with new UI * OpenFeint support (achievements for completing levels, leaderboards for puzzle points, level completion times, mini game scores) I hope everyone enjoys the improvements and stay tuned for more updates. Simon.

Chromixa is a unique and highly stylized puzzle title, guaranteed to satisfy, challenge and beguile in equal measure.ABOUTBeginning life as a digital art project, Chromixa is the enchanting result of designer Simon Watson’s fascination with light. Inspired by noted artists such as James Clar and James Turrell, Chromixa’s first incarnation was a real life installation built from 100s of red, green and blue LEDs, a micro-controller, plexiglass, and one very creative brain. With the concept of physically interactive light mixing at its core, Chromixa has gone through many evolutions, reaching its zenith as an exciting new puzzle genre on the App Store. The simplicity of blending primary colours and fitting tangram-style geometric shapes together offers a uniquely stimulating and addictive interactive experience. GAMEPLAYArrange colored shapes of light to complete beautifully designed puzzles. Primary colors of red, green and blue are rotated, positioned and overlaid to create new tones as shapes overlap. Like a jigsaw of light, your goal is to arrange the shapes to fill an outline with a single color.Completing puzzles unlocks fun arcade-style mini games, each with its own unique take on color mixing. Like all good puzzle titles, Chromixa is built upon a simple yet endlessly expandable concept, that unfurls to create progressively discerning challenges that are fun, beautiful and offer pleasing mental agility exercises for all ages.PRESS QUOTES"So ingeniously simple it's hard to understand why it wasn't thought of until now." - PocketGamer.co.uk (http://tiny.cc/Chromixa1)"One of the most exciting puzzle games I’ve played this year." - TouchReviews.net (http://tiny.cc/Chromixa2)"The game is so simple it’s hard to convey its gameplay with much excitement, but rest assured it’s tantamount to digital heroin.
