    Hello,

We are experimenting with changing the app icon for our game Tower Blockade to see which one will catch the eye better. The first one hints pretty directly at the tower defense genre, but the second one focuses on the ability to challenge your friends (which is one of the unique aspects of the game.)

Any thoughts on which you prefer?

The first icon provides a stronger representation of the gameplay, but doesn't really reflect the ingame visuals and camera angle very much.

The second one is more indicative of the style but doesn't really speak to the gameplay at all. Not sure it quite delivers on a multiplayer aspect personally.

What I'd do is take the first icon, move away from the yellow/green palette, and reskin it with the blue and red from the second icon.

To reinforce the multiplayer friends challenge aspect of the game (which you have in the title of the app), I'd surface that explicitly on the screenshots/store creative somewhere. You could also mention it earlier in your store description. It is literally the last thing in the description currently.

If you release it via the playstore first, you can a-b test icons to see which is more successful, and even chuck a third into the mix based off of that. Pikpok give amazing advice though, I'd follow that to the letter.

Yup definitely the first icon but no harm doing A/B testing as fgl_sam suggested.

I would recommend removing brand logo from the corner of the icon until you have developed a strong branding or have a large portfolio of games. They don't otherwise bring any benefit and steal the focus away from the beautiful icon :)
