This happened a few days ago, but it doesn't seem to have been covered here. This guy, Sun Danyong, lost one of sixteen iPhone 4Gs in the world, faced terrible Foxconn interrogation, couldn't take anymore, and jumped from a twelve story building! Click here for the full story.
That's unfortunate. He had everything seized from him just for losing it. And the news about Apple underpaying the workers is sad too.
That's how all these big conglomerates make their money....it's the way the world works unfortunately these days...
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=19624 I already started one thread but no one answered or posted
I wonder who is going to find it...and I wonder what the f**k is inside of that thing if he killed himself over an iphone
That must be one killer phone. Sorry I couldn't resist. But that's kinda sad, I mean, it's not worth killing yourself..
Supposedly the same guy has had a "history" of losing prototypes... They said 4-5, I will try and find where I read that as I like to cite my resources or it's just BS ya?... But seriously if that's true why would the company be dumb enough to give this guy one of 16 said iPhones? .... [EDIT] - http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/28/foxconn-increases-compensation-to-family-of-worker-who-committed/ So like I said why would they let this guy get ahold of the new iPhone if he has a history of losing prototypes?!...
It's freakin' iPhone, I mean, maybe some one'll find it, maybe some one'll identify it for what it is, and again, maybe, just maybe, some smart enough will get their hands on it and release it's specs (well, that actually pretty likely, considering most of Asia's population consists of tech nerds ), but it's still a gadget that's gonna be obsolete in half a decade. Geez, these people are intense.
Well acually, he killed himself because he didn't want to be faced with interigation and police beating the crap outa him. So I guess he had no other choice.
Damn... I mean I know prototypes are supposed to be kept secret from the competition, but it sounds like he was treated as a terrorist or a serial murderer.
I want to know what the salary for somone who would be priviliged enough to be able to take a prototype iPhone home with him! He must have been high up in the company, not just an assembly technician.... I mean could you imagine?! "Here we want to pay you $XXXXXX.XX to try out this iPhone a whole year before it comes out." What is his background you think? I'm guessing electrical engineering?... So if he's no longer with the company, how could I get that job?...
