I like this screenshot. It's a lot more colourful than the video for some reason. You should talk more about the game. All the big threads in the Upcoming Games section have the developers talk about it. This game seems like it has a fast pace, closer to console game rather than the mostly slow and floaty iOS offerings. How comfortable were you doing this? How responsive are the controls? Did you play any console and iOS platformers to see what you're getting into? Have you started previews and other offerings to websites?
in the video the colors lost a bit of the clarity , sure the screenshot shows the final rendering in the game . indeed the game have a fast pace ,which is not quite common in iOS , android ... but it's understandable there is of no physical dpad/buttons, so it's a bit harder to control characters with a virtual D-pad and buttons then it can be really frustrating for the players , so that was the biggest challenge for me , i spent a lot of time to make the controls intuitive and reactive , then finally i reduced the inputs to 2 directional pads where you have to touch them approximately , and a jump button which is used for double jump , wall jump and future actions , so it's 3 buttons in all , after testing that with many players it seems that testers are now concentrated in the gameplay instead of the controls , then i was able to change the design to be more like a console game since i'm a big console player . the game is inspired from many old and new platformers in consoles , the first credit would be given to Super Meat Boy which i'm in contact with the team now to see how i could makes references of SMB in the game . since i'm working alone in the project, it's a bit harder to manage all the stuffs , the website , the facebook page , and the game at the same time . it takes a lot of effort and money ...i started also a Crowd Funding Campaign to make things works a bit faster , here is the link : http://igg.me/p/37611?a=218303&i=shlk i will start posting to previewers in the coming 2 weeks with more new materials and features i'm working on now . (sorry for my English it's not my native language )
Definitely liking what I'm seeing here. Fun character animation adds some personality to a familiar game style, and it looks like it'll be a blast to play if the controls are easy to use. Hope to get my hands on this some time soon.
i'm happy that you like it , the controls are the most important pillar of CheeseMan , it will be very polished. also for the graphics will be polished more . i love platformers , and i want to be proud of this game when it will be released
yeahhhh FIRST Preciew articlec by TheAppShack http://theappshack54.blogspot.com/2011/08/news-cheeseman-cometh.html thank youuuuu
Hey once you get a build done, I can do hands-on preview, I don't think I will do preview yet, week before it's released or when I get more info etc.
I'd like to be a part of any beta as well. By the way, is the music in your trailer in the actual game as well? I really like the character's animations especially when he runs. Have you given any thought to giving him idle animations? I also think having a splash title screen with a little animation could add to the charm, if you have the time for it. Kinda like: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Or even if it's a still image and he blinks every 10 seconds. hello arta , well the music is just for the trailer , but i'm in negociation with its composer for a full sound track , i love his music the cheeseman have already an idle animation , but i will add more , it's always funnyto have idle animations for the splash screen you're totally right , i will try to make an animated one the presentation is very important , for the beta , i think the beta will start the 15 september i'll let you know . for now it's just builds for preview as void said
please pm me your mail adresses for beta testing so when it's available , so it would be easier to let you know
Looks good, couldnt stand that music in the trailer though ! Its not a Gamesalad game though is it ?! Dont think it is but want to check ! But for me its all about the gameplay, graphics arent bad either but as a platforming fan its looking good. Would like to see some enemies as it seemed mostly jumping on your own and not on top of anything
i was so happy when i saw the article, the game is now close to beta stage , still need some polish and final soundtrack
I like this game a lot, looks like a fun super meat boy iOS version. And i specially like the virtual controls and the jump method. Good job there... will buy it on day one...
thank you , it really makes me happy and highly motivated to hear that you like it , thank you for the support
