Seriously - this is the same way I felt when I first booted up this game. Something that I absolutely did NOT feel about the first Chaos Rings... and the only thing I remembered saying to myself whilst playing this new version: "Finally." :)

    Absolutely yes!!

In the first 2 hours of CR 2, I felt like playing on a full grown console. With a 3GS!
    Outstanding.

Console level? Surely you are not comparing with 7th generation console game standards right. lol

With Chaos Rings 2, I felt like I was playing a PSP level game on my iPad at a higher resolution. Which is brilliant ! Considering how shallow most of the other original mobile JRPGs in the Appstore are.

^this, how was it recorded on such a smooth frame rate from, seemingly, no external camera?

Am I the only one having serious crash problems in this game ?

whenever I press the camp button, the game crashes and quit to screen, I can play the game fine, but without using the camp button I can't equip items that I picked up or equip sopia , or level up my sopia, it's really annoying.

This game is one of two that I want but am not convinced about the price point. I like all kinds of games, especially GOOD rpg's with depth like Adventure Bar Story.... but with this game having such a high concentration on graphics i'm unsure about gameplay and depth.

From my experience most games which push devices graphically seriously lack in most if not all other areas.

Two characters in a battle seems like it could be kind of shallow to me for an RPG game but what do people think about this, is it a limitation or not?

What is the maximum level cap? how long do you "think" it will take heavy gamer to reach? on hypothesis at least, I doubt by the sounds of it any one is there yet.

Has any one managed to complete the story line yet?

What is the exploration element like, or is it linear and once you complete a map you can say bye bye to it?

It'll be hard to convince you if you keep the mindset of wanting the "standard rpg". You'll always have 2 characters and it works out fine. Any more and the battles would drag too long. I can understand your comment about graphics and lacking games but with 2 good rpgs for the series, the 3rd one can only be better. It actually has quite a bit of dialogue and intrigue.. a lot better than CR1, very similar to CR:Omega which is more story driven.

It's quite lengthy. Apparently with my around 2.5 hours of play I'm still at the very top of the scenario map. As for level cap, I don't know but it'l be increased whatever it is. On CR1, my favorite team is around lvl 40-50 and I put about 7 hours into that. That's without getting the final ending.

If you've played any of the other CR you'll know about the kind of difficulty. The extra bosses are usually challenging and they will increase the level cap (check updates). For novices and hardcore people, I think you'll like it. I know omega had a lot of people collecting items for 100% completion (which I don't see here) so at least the company knows how to make people keep playing. I haven't beaten it, not even close apparently, but it looks like not only will it take a while but you'll have go through multiple times to see all the different scenarios with 2 possible "ultimate" endings.

First off, great game. This is better then alot of xbox360 games I've spent three times as much on. It's definitely a game I'm going to get my money's worth. I have a question though, not sure if I missed it in the manual. When you enter the teleport and it give you a list of places to travel, next to ones you've already completed there is three stars. What are they for, and how do you get all three as I've only managed to get one.

I was skeptical at first, but I ended up shelling out the cash and now I know it was worth it. Quick question though, is there any way they might update with an English VoiceOver option? I ended up just turning them off because the Japanese ones kinda ruined the experience for me, but I feel like if they put in English it would make it much more engaging.

Lol... That's like asking for English dubs for Audrey Tautou Movies. Some of these seiyuus chosen for chaos rings2 are really popular idols back in Japan and just having these voice actors on board will guarantee sales. The voice acting profession in Japan is huge unlike the VA profession in the west... I personally feel that the Japanese voices provide a much more emotive experience.

I can see where you are coming from though.( I am sure some people will appreciate the australian accents in ff13.lol)I don't think there will ever be english dubs since there aren't any for the other 2 games and there just isn't a lot of demand for it. File size will also be another issue to deal with.

I purchased the game immediately upon release and so far I would say I have no regrets paying $18 for it. However keep in mind that I'm a JRPG fan so the price may be unjustified to some.

Having used to pay over $10 for any current SE games ported to iOS, the price tag seems reasonable for a exclusive iOS game. I like the fact that the amount of effort SE put into CRII is comparable that to of a console, the most significant being the audio features. Now this is a bit of a hit and miss here, as the music of CRII is composed by Noriyasu Agematsu, who is quite a celebrity in Japan. You don't see any iOS exclusive game putting that much effort into their game music.

Since I'm able to understand Japanese, I appreciate the effort of them putting voiceovers in this game. However, as a poster mentioned above, I wish they would add English voiceovers as well for a more engaging gameplay experience.

So far the storyline has been interesting, and the various new battle functions provide a more diverse battle experience if you find CR1 and CRO battle to be a little repetitive.

I'm playing 2+ hours into the game so far. It's been a 3 Value Meal well spent for me.

Lol one of the few titles that justifies for an above $9.99 price tag.
The original one was a bit repetitive, as it was pretty much 95% dungeon running. I prefer RPGs where you get to talk to NPCs in towns and do quests and stuff. Does CR2 have towns and NPCs?
Edit: JP voice-over and good soundtract? Almost sold...
Good thing it's not ENG voice-over. Any English voice-over for anything Asian is usually terrible.

No towns, still a lot of talking :) It's still very linear (I like it).
And the soundtrack alone is worth the money. Seriously, stunning.

I have purchased game, the artwork is awesome.
Still can hear some old music from the original Chaos Rings, but this game basically is a brand new game, 99% contents are new.

I am currently choosing my 1st pillar, I picked that kid, but he just run away, and after find him back you have to choose again. So you really only have 2 choices: Li Hua or Araki.

Not sure how this choice will impact the game storyline.

Here's a great rule of thumb: if you think it might be a spoiler, it probably is.

Do I need any knowledge from CR1 or Omega for Chaos Rings 2? Is there any major connection (except gameplaywise)?
