The thing is, I am so starved of good JRPGs without English dubs that I am willing to pay a premium for one, even if it is a JRPG on a mobile platform. lol. WRPGs are great too but they are just...fundamentally different from JRPGs in many ways.

I have spent a couple of hours on this and it seems to be really good so far. The pacing of the plot is great, the 2d environments are pretty and detailed and... i am liking the summonings lol.

Gameplay wise, quite a few things have been added to the game. There are challenges that you can pick up at the item shop run by that weird little fluffy thing. They are mainly battles against special monsters and you get rewarded with items/combo recipes for winning. There are summonings that you can pull off and each character have their own limit breaks. You get to select which partner you want to bring too when grinding through previously visited areas.

On a rather inconsequential note ...I noticed that the portrait of Darwin has his shoulder plate/armor thingy on the opposite side of the 3d character model. lol

Here's what i think is going on right now...

Everybody agrees that Chaos Rings 2 is a good game (even those who havent bought it yet) BUT some are not sure whether they will get their $20 worth out of the good stuff they get from this game.

I guess it is fair that way. I mean $20 is a bit too pricey for an iOS game, but pretty cheap if compared to a console game. But since this is on an iOS format, some are hesitating to pick it up.

Personally, i still think $20 is too cheap because of how I was able to save some money switching from console games to iOS games.

Seriously, there are iOS titles which have more production value than console games and that's what makes the iOS very affordable for me.

@violentv: Well the portraits are mirrored so it'll be flipped on either the left or right side.

    --------

Okay some comments after looking through the past pages:

    * MOST impressions I've seen on this thread are great impressions about the game. I've see 1 or 2 meh. I'm not sure why anyone would read this thread and summarize that the game is okay. I didn't get that impression from reading all the pages

    * Secondly, it's hard to leave impressions on such a huge game because I saw some were complaining the "you only played an hour etc." but then you want us to BEAT the game before we tell you what we think? Well, be prepared to wait a while

    * The game def isn't short. If you look at the Scenario section on the camp screen it'll show you your story path. 1.5 hours in and I'm still on the first image.

    * You don't have to shell out that money if you don't want to. Value is actually something that you determine yourself. I do believe if you want games up to this quality, you have to buy it when it's not on sale to show that people want these kinds of games. SQE won't make these kinds of games for $1.99 guaranteed.

    * If you guys are curious about difficulty, I can't tell you for sure but I'm 90% positive it will get harder. No one is at the end yet unless they played the game all day yesterday. Besides, updates = more bosses + secret bosses. Those don't scream easy to me.

    * Finally, some complaints were that it's chaos rings 1.5? I completely disagree. Of course it's similar (it has to, it's the same series) but they added a lot of new battle mechanics - Awakening, Advent, Charging meters, Armored Enemies, environment puzzles, character special abilities/switching in environment, etc. But yes, it plays like a turn based RPG if that's what you're complaining about. Chaos Rings 1.5 would be Omega to be fair. I don't see anything reused in here besides some sounds. Graphics are way better and so is everything else in the game. The only better parts of the other games were maybe NG+ and playing different story lines.

Is this app Universal? I left the screen up I guess for the iPhone version in iTunes and when I came back to my computer I decided to buy it assuming I was buying the iPad version.

Sorry for not reading all the pages can't be bothered to go through 15 pages.

My thing is that on iOS, I can play a game like King of Dragon Pass ($10) and it's all around better than everything I've played on iOS. Hell, the story, strategy, and immersion of KoDP rivals most things I've played on console and PC. All it's missing is the graphic production value.

As a former console gamer, with friends who played console games, it was cheap compared to iOS. A game like Dragon Age had about 100 hours per character if you did both moral paths. This one game could last a person months for $60. Also, I know for a fact that I can get $30 after 6 months for certain games. Console games = long term 'time' investments. FIFA lasted me 2 quarters of college because we could play local multiplayer with one disc. MW and Battlefield on average lasted me 4 months each before I grew sick of them. Production values are higher on console games and there's more money put into marketing. Going back to my friends, we borrowed, lent, and played local multiplayer/co-op quite a bit.

Like L.Lawliet said, if the price is worth it to you then pay it. i have no problem with that. However, I played CR, and I can't 100% say it's sequel is worth $18 to me. Will I buy it at $18? it's a strong possibility, but i am doing everything in my power no to. it's all a matter of will i give into temptation or wait 2-3 months for a sale because I can't justify the price in my head. What's the point of paying more for less!?

    Biggest spoiler of the game.
Piu-Piu's back. You know what that means ;)

  9. Sorry but the whole series is unplayable for me just because of the bad framerate, the whole game feels like a slug fest (sluggish) When you tap something or "accept" something and especially when you move around.

    uuuugh... WHY!?

Why, for having perfect eyesight? Anyone even remotely interested in graphics or programming, or maybe just playing games a long time, since the commodore or 8-bit can feel and see that the framerate is ATLEAST locked at 30 fps. And for me, when this is squeenix i expect atleast 60 fps.

I was going to make a comment about the device you're using since you are complaining a out frame rate but you didn't specify. I guess if you have an iPad 2 or iPhone 4s then the complaint is legitimate since no device is more powerful as of this writing.

Easy, which device do you play on more often? I'm always on my iPad and I like gaming on bigger screens so it was easy for me. Just gotta figure out what's most important to you.

Can someone who bought this game, plz tell me if you explore it going from town to town like a normal RPG, or does it always have one central area that you always go back to, like in chaos rings?
