It looks great and everything but i have no idea whats happening in the gameplay. Maybe it's just because i haven't played anything like final fantasy before.

    You are wrong. ;)
It will out in the UK at 12:00... that means 01:00 - 01:30 in Germany.
Releases in Europe are based on the UK time.

Except I don't hate this kind of game. I love most RPGs. Even most I've played that I believe are considered of a similar bent as the FF games. Grandia II, Skies of Arcadia, the Pokemon games, Golden Sun, Blue Dragon, and so on. Every one of those that I've played I've liked. I don't hate FF games, but to me they suck, and are nowhere near as good as *ANY* other RPG I've played of any time. I even found Dungeon Lords to be more fun than all the FF games I've tried. And it's not like I tried 2 and quit - I've played 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, and the tactical spin-offs from the series, too.

You say "for me" is unnecessary, yet you clearly don't read my opinion as applying only to me even though I thought it was pretty clearly stated.

I don't intend to sound like a jerk, and wasn't going for that in either of my earlier posts. I find the FF games to be pretty bad. I find the Square tactical games I've tried to be pretty bad. I thought Kingdom Hearts was just awful. For me, and only of meaning to my own person and via my own experiences, I can't understand why Square Enix productions are held in such high regards. I hope everyone who gets this game likes it. I would, foolish though it might seem, like to be one who also tries this game out. I love RPGs. Any time I can get a new RPG and have time to play it, I try to do so. And maybe this will be the one that makes me see how great Square Enix games are. But I'm not ready to hop on for the crazy price (in my own view) that this is selling for.

For, for someone hating the SE games that much, you play a lot of them :)

I have played most FF's available and this definatly has the same feel as crisis core for PSP, and that's not a bad thing.

Okay. So this game looks awesome. My one worry is going to be the length. I'm worried this game is going to clock in at 5-6 hours and not a full RPG of 20 hours +. Anyone read anything in the contrary?

Does this game run perfectly smoothly on the 3G?
Is it complex enough to rival console RPGs like the Tales series (lots of other things to do besides fighting, a good storyline that is interesting enough for you to actually read the dialogue, good music, etc)? Or is it just a glorified 3D version of something like Zenonia or Inotia 2 where there's nothing to do in towns and most if not all of the game is simply grinding?

I was thinking the same thing, minus the typo.

Does the 30 hours include playing it through and beating the game 4 times in order to "really" beat the game as mentioned earlier? If so I'm wary. I want a full on RPG - I'm not looking for something light on content for 12.99.

I feel bad for making such big deal of this in the first place, but I think you're missing my point. Saying that you didn't like a game because it was "too sucky" for you implies that people who like it enjoy "sucky" games. You see this all the time in forums: "the controls are horrible" instead of "I really hated the controls," or "the game was boring" instead of "the game bored me." Obviously everything one writes about a game is an opinion (unless you're being purely descriptive), but there are ways to express your opinion that allow room for other to differ without conflict.

Some games, of course, deserve to be categorically denounced (for example, "Kick-Ass The Game is the worst piece of crap ever released by a legitimate publisher on the platform"). In my view, those games come along rather infrequently, and there's usually general agreement about them.

As I said earlier, it's really just a pet peeve.

What is the battle system like? Is it pure turn-based? Or is it ATB like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy X - XIII?

    Doing nothing of importance.
    Somewhere
It seems purely turn based, like the system in Final Fantasy X. I'm not sure, it's just based on the video.

From the looks of it this is a serious SE game for once, so I highly doubt that it's anything as simple as Zenonia or Inotia 2. (Or Tales :p)

Well I didn't mean it would play like Tales. It was a comparison between iPhone RPGs (all of them so far lacks complexity, it's simple to see that there's absolutely nothing to do in towns at all) and console/PC RPGs (lots of do in towns, nonlinear gameplay).
