Just wanted to quote all the positive comments on the game - I've played for 3 hrs+, I've only got one ring and while at the middle of the second "world" of the game (after the mid-level boss) I decided to go back to the first one to experiment with different battle strategies with the various genes, elements ect. I wanted to share the following, regarding the combat's depth, especially with people still on the fence. At one point, when facing a certain enemy and thinking about using "analyze" on him to reveal his weakness, he attacked me with an aqua spell (which gave him the little blue exclamation mark that wasnt there before the attack, meaning he was there-on characterized by the aqua element). So the enemy's action led me straight to the use of a spell with extra damage against aqua, which killed him. This game is much more than a pretty face - I've been away from turn-based combat for a long time, and actually the turn-based stuff was a factor for me not getting excited about FF13. I still probably wont buy FF13, but for the money asked here, you get deep and solid combat systems that intersect one another and are a blast to use. Actually, after reading ign's review, I was puzzled by the fact that the reviewer didnt get into the elements system - I mean, at first its confusing, but especially after the "analyse" command is acquired, it all comes together. And all this without touching the excellent production values and the solid story and character developement. We as consumers should support serious efforts by developers which result in quality games for the Appstore - the price/quality ratio here is perfect. Buy this game
My combination for all couples: Warrior: Bird, Dragon, Tiger Companion: Deer, Mouse, Dog Running great with that Right now, I'm finishing with the 3rd couple. The story is just fantastic!
Thanks for your tip! I'll try that combo! Yes, the story is great. Unfortunately, it's in english, but that's okay...
well...i wouldn't exactly call it "English", but it's pretty close. some of the tutorial texts are sketchy. just bought it this morning, and i'm pleasantly surprised. i've never been much into the FF games or JRPGs in general (though i LOVED Super Mario RPG), but this one seems to have promise. damn meetings keep me from playing!
Didn't make it past top paid 15 apps USA I'm kinda of bummed that the game didn't make it past the top 15 paid apps in US. I know it is number one in paid apps, and I'm sure doing really good across the globe, but I really wanted Square to do very, very well. I was hoping if the game was a huge success they would consider making more exclusive games for idevices.
Dunno if you havent noticed but it is still rising (unless I didnt see it drop) so let's all hope it makes it to top 10 at least
It hit number 15 yesterday in the morning and on my train ride home the app fell to number 19. However, it has now moved back up to 17.
No offense, but the elemental system is pretty basic. It's basically rock-paper-scissors. That's probably why they didn't go into detail in the IGN review.
Try to get your friends to buy it and pray that it sells well enough for them to finish that original Final fantasy game they said they were making.
I know you can't see this, but i've got the MGS question mark above my head. I must have missed that a original FF game was being developed. Can you provide me with a link?
Its currently the top grossing, at its price point it could stay in the top 10 grossing apps and do very well for some time despite dropping in the top paid apps. A perfect example is Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies, its been in the top 10 grossing apps almost constantly (158 days) since its release but is only 63 in top paid.
guess, this game save me from warpgate .. bye bye warpgate .. bye bye my 13 bucks .. welcome a week of sleepless night ..
I do not know what you guys think, but for me, this game shares a striking resemblance to Dissidia for the PSP
Yes. It shows the quality of the game, that so many cheapskates on the app store are willing to pay 13 bucks for it. And so far in the iTunes review, I have not seen a single complaint about the price. Very impressive
Hey Toucharcade People !! Tell me, how does the map system functions ? I don't understand how it works ... However it is an amazing game !! Recommend it to everybody who loves this kind of game !! Chaos Rings Forever
None taken No arguing there, it is quite simple. It also works as an extra factor to consider when in combat, and thats where this simple mechanic adds depth to the combat. I think you misunderstood me though, or I didnt make it clear enough - they did mention the elemental system in the review, and to the appropriate extent imo. I was puzzled by the fact that the reviewer didnt "get into" it (meaning that it wasnt his cup of tea - if I get his point), given that its a pretty simple system that adds an extra layer of depth. Maybe he meant that he ended up not using it much, which is somewhat of a waste.
I think the icon could look much cooler than the current one lol. Musiea isn't exactly the best looking character in the game, and the icon doesn't even have the game's title or any logos in it.
