Agreed... Bold SPOILER at the top and the actual spoiler itself in white font. I would like to see what others say without them completely ruining the game.

my brother and i play the first two pairs and i just noticed that we always have the same genes and skills
i already got the tortoise gene though i haven't battled against that boss and my brother did that
is that a bug or it is intentional?

All your genes are constant throughout the games with each character. That is to say each character duo does not have their own genes. Once you get deer all 4 character pairs have it from level one onward.

Well I've levelled myself up 9 times in an attempt to defeat this 2nd ring boss & also found some new weapons in locked chests so hopefully it'll be enough this time :p My first attempt to beat him was at lvl16 vs lvl21, now its at level 30 for the 3rd attempt, haha

It took me like 15 tries to beat the Giant Tree Turtle guy. Then after that I just grinded and grinded and grinded and beat the game pretty easily lol.

    ***EPIC SPOILERS***

level 100.all genes and their spells.beat the game with all 4 characters.killed qualia.went back and got 4 stars on every dungeon which gives you all the best equipment In the game but one piece.you get the best ring(bikini) from the secret last boss aka the shop keeper. Fun game but a little too easy and I don't feel like leveling all my characters to 90-100 just to beat the last guy 3 more times.

Abusing the elements system i was critting over 110k. I have over 39k life and over 4k mana.the secret boss item gives you +500 to all stats but seems kinda useless without a further monster to test your abilities. The secret boss is level 100 but I bet she is killable from 80+. All the 4 star bosses I killed around level 65. Qualia I just leveled everyone to 50 and the final form was somewhat challenging.

    Yup, Airavata

I found in the end that poisoning him was the best strategy, did way more damage than I thought it would and since I had leveled up so much he was pretty easy since my characters had over 3000HP so I could survive a couple of rounds before having to worry about healing myself - combining that with Diamond Defense it makes the battle a lot quicker although he'll still do damage over 1000 quite often

I've mastered a few of my genes now, some of them add pretty handy skills

Start to finish beating everything atleast once took 19 hours 58 minutes for those of you wondering about price vs value. A good buy but a little on the easy side especially when you take advantage of the elements system, hello 110,000+ crits at level 100

Anybody else think that Square Enix took the same general direction with this as they did with Final Fantasy XIII? Chaos Rings seems to be streamlined around combat and doing that well. No full exploration or quests, linear story and basically just focusing on good combat. It seems they had an internal meeting at some point and decided to do their new games this way. :)

I don't, for me Chaos Rings is totally different than FFXIII. FFXIII did everything wrong imo and made it the god-awful annoying game that it is. The storyline may be thin as well as the exploration but at least it doesn't take 25 hours to become "good" & every character wasn't either lame or a douchebag

But then again, the combat in FFXIII is very good, in my opinion. Personally, I don't really care about the "25-hour tutorial." I play these games mostly for the story, characters and the cut-scenes, anyway. As usual, there are some really annoying characters in FFXIII, but I've built up a tolerance for that over the years. :p

What I was getting at was the focus on combat.

I found the combat in FFXIII frustrating tbh, not sure why but just constantly changing things every 2 seconds just literally irritated me

i just finished my first playthrough (10 hrs & 47 minutes) @ level 75, completely invincible at this stage, over 1 million of OZ, all 4 teams unlocked & 4 stars in each dungeon, loving this game... Next team... Eluca & Zhamo.. . :D

BTW Chaos Rings just got a 9/10 score in pocketgamers review... Awesome job SE, you truly deserved it... looking forward for more awesome games from SE...

It's called "action-packed." ;) Nah, I think they did a good job at making what's essentially turn-based menu combat more involved and exciting. But people have different tastes. I guess we'll never see another Final Fantasy IX in HD graphics quality...

Are there any guides yet for Chaos Rings? We should set up a wiki.

    Just like this one. :D
