Pair rocks dude. I 2 or 3 shotted the last boss well the 2nd from last boss. The boss that reminds me of Chrono Cross
Did you try doing the same with solo? Seriously end up doing more overall damage, and yes, I know the concept rocks (I enjoy it too) but I'm asking in dpt terms
Game impression This game is totally awesome... been playing this for 4 hours now and i'm just moving on to the 3rd dungeon. (spent time leveling up and collecting items and skill)... i manage to master a Gene as well. Having to choose different levels (level of difficulty) for each dungeon is cool since it adds replay value for the game(different monster, gain skills, cool items) . I really don't care if the animations are quite repetitive or even the battles (since this is naturally repetitive right?) cause I'm focusing on my progression, the skills learned and collecting items that can't be bought from Piu Piu... the price of the game is worth it (not to mention that i paid $16.99 for this game) Although i find the map quite difficult to master but i managed to do so after hours of grinding through it with ENCOUNTER always ON. I would totally recommend this game. It made me proud that i own an ipod touch 3g. Honestly i never played RPG with turn-base strategy before like FF, Chrono Cross, Persona, Valkyrie and etc. (i'm familiar with the name cause back then I've watched my cousin playing these games and i quite find the genre boring) But after playing this it feels like i was born to play this kind of games cause it involves action, strategies on how you will use skills on different monsters of different types and of course puzzles... BUY IT NOW
I have to wonder if it will be worth waiting for a price drop... knowing how Squenix works, it won't be for a while and it'll only a be a couple bucks. ^_^
Did you try selecting the character you were using and then seeing if it displayed any save info afterwards? Its a bit deceiving since there is no 'Load' button
You said it yourself, it sin't worth waiting for a price drop, you should enjoy it to its fullest while it is fresh in the store . (Oh and btw just posted a review of this game in my blog if anyone wishes to check it out/ is still undecided about getting it or not).
I know once you use an element, the little circle with the exclamation point changes color but unless the enemy uses am element, there's no way to tell what they are weak against, unless it's obvious...ie. Fire dragon weak against water. Problem is not all enemies are easy to figure out.
Has anyone else noticed that if you use a pair regular attack on the 1st round it is not that strong?(This only works if you attack 1st)
Could it have to do with the advantage system? I have a feeling that it's because either the enemy has advantage or is neutral. I'm still trying to fully understand what the advqntage system does, but I can tell that it definetly affects your abilities etc. Not sure about stats, etc.
Pair attack works better when you have an attribute that is super effective and the advantage counter is on your side. In addition, pair attack is useful for healing - you can use two items in one action so the other character won't get hit and die before he's able to use the item. Also, attacking in pairs is the only way to defeat other Ark Arena contestants, your characters have to "work together" according to Escher.
when you pair and use an item it only uses 1 item btw. also it is not true that you have to pair to kill the other teams. only escher's storyline requires that and I think it was only the first duel group.
Actually, you need to pair to defeat the second team too, since for some reason they also regenerate health (just not as much as the first).
hey, don't just quote/bold my single point, I listed 5~6 points, and that's the ONLY point you can argue with, that's sad, is that mean u agree with my other points? C'mon you can do better than that. Add on top on my list, the physical product require shipping and deliver fee as well.... so make up your mind and agrue point by point not just one... hummmm ... You may just like you name, is really NULL, dry and empty. hey, you got a NullPointerException in ur brain, err it is undefined! right, kid.
I agree with some of your points. But 12.99$ isn't really that much to be honest, for a game like this.
The whole pair system is more for strategic value than just attack damage. For example: Fighting the Cerberus boss in the first dungeon (or whatever it was, the lava one). It has two attacks, Tear and Cremation, with Tear being a physical attack and Cremation being a fire spell. Usually I'd get Musiea (I think that's how you spell it) to cast Mental Wall on herself, which reflects spells back at the opponent. But since in pair mode both characters benefit from one member's spell effect, Escher is then protected by reflect as well. So when Cerberus casts his Cremation spell, they both reflect it back and it damages Cerberus instead, while Escher goes and does his normal attack for more damage. Let's say that Cerberus decides to use Tear instead of Cremation. Since it's a physical attack, it's not affected by the reflect spell, and since you're in pair mode, both characters take damage from it (the risk of using pair mode). They can then heal themselves using pair mode to use one chocolate to heal the both of them. Now if you want to attack Cerberus, pair is also an option. Cerberus is a fire type monster (at least, I think it is), so you want to use a lot of water magic. But only Musiea has water spells, and Escher doesn't. With pair mode, you can get both characters to cast a spell regardless of whether one member has it equipped in their gene list or not, so Escher can cast whatever's in Musiea's spell list and vice versa. This means that Escher can cast the water spell along with Musiea, doing quadruple damage to the Cerberus (x2 for being effective against fire, x another 2 for being in pair mode). This is just an example of how pair mode can be used, not just for increasing damage output.
I have no argument on the game quality. it really done a great job. My argument is the price of the game itself is no different from other game consoles, the games selling more expensive on other game console, most of time because of the beautiful packaging and the cost I mentioned above. Comparing to other big game big company, such as GTA, StreetFighter, it is actually more pricey.
If on the first level Ive beaten a boss, done two puzzles, meeted two other people and haven't got either ring am I doing it wrong? Are the rings those yellow dots on the map?
Is your normal attack effected by elements after you've used genes that make you have, say, blaze element?
If you add blaze element to a normal attack and that enemy is weak against blaze magic/blaze attacks then its going to be highly effective
